Notes based on a blind sample. An elegant, light and subtle dram. The quality is there but perhaps it's a bit too subtle for me.
    • Nose
A very fresh and light nose. Citrussy and lemony. Raspberries. Becomes more floral after a while with a drop of water.
    • Taste
Nice oily mouthfeel. Sweet and still subtle and flowery. There's a bit of bitterness in the taste.
    • Finish
Subtle again (notice a trend here?). Lightly spiced, dried powdered ginger. The bitterness remains in the finish, but it's a nice kind of balanced bitterness.

  2. Erik Elixir scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

    blind tasting BTC 2014 - #3
    • Nose
citrus, nice bourbon fruits - pear and melon, vanilla, creamy chipolata, fresh green apples - Granny Smith and some fudge
    • Taste
citrus, mandarins, orange, sparkling green apple, mint and malty
    • Finish
medium drying, creamy and some pepper,

Yeah well, this just isn't really good.
    • Nose
Ripe banana, pear and citrus. Rather strong on the alcohol it seems, but I think that's just appearances in this case. Some malt, grain and cereal as well as a nice dose of vanilla. A bit of cookie dough maybe. And do I detect a light soapiness?
    • Taste
Creamy with vanilla, melon and green fruits. Very bitter (pink grapefruit) and a bit dirty as well. There is some sharpness. Let's say it has some rough edges.
    • Finish
Too short to really comment on. I'm not kidding.

was whisky #3 in the dutch blind tasting competition (BTC2014). And this one doesn't have the familiar Balvenie notes and profile. I guessed it to be a different distillery. 5. KayMeertens scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

Sample part of the Blind Tasting Competition of the Usquebaugh forum.
    • Nose
Very sweet. Candy (tumtums), apricot, pear, apple, lime, vanilla, honey. A very active bourbon barrel.
    • Taste
Orange, peach, strawberry candy, vanilla, oak, honey and caramel.
    • Finish
Candy, orange, vanilla, caramel and honey.
