  1. domani scored this whisky 74 points Expert Senior

A fine and straightforward single malt with a spicy-sweet character and a nice, warm smoke note - 04.12.2015
    • Nose
Pleasantly warm smoke, caramel, vanilla, honey, cereals
    • Taste
      Smoke, sweet, slightly spicy, dry
    • Finish
      medium

  2. MrDvorak scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

Lively and rather intense, quite sweet and bitter
w/ notes of smoked fruits, salami, some gentle young bacon and sherry on the back.

    RATING: 83pts – |83 – 86 (B) → Good| — Not a “must”, but a nice-to-have.

  3. wbarchive_875995 did not rate this whisky Expert Junior

Comes in very nice. Normal drink, nothing more to add.
    • Nose
Sherry, followed by smoked fruits and dried fruits, woody damp humidity, salami sausage.
    • Taste
Spicy smoked meats, bacon, honey on top of this.
    • Finish
Sherry, dry, medium length, smoke, sourness of dried fruits.

  4. KB201 did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

This is the first bottling from the new Prophecy series that is to be released annually.

  5. Gweddry scored this whisky 82 points Expert Senior

It smells interesting, but the taste is the exact opposite, flat and uninteresting as well as the reverberation.
    • Nose
sweet smoke, old praline, decay, dark chocolate, muesli bar, overripe raspberry, manner waffles, old caramel, straw wine, cognac, paprika salami, ripe cheese, smoked fish, cucumber, menthol chewing gum, slightly reminiscent of edradour
    • Taste
syrup, sharper, flatter, smoke, honey with chili, coffee, sherry, bitter,
    • Finish
boiled vegetables, light smoke, sherry, dog

  6. Whisky Hamster scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

One of the better - former - Jura standard bottlings with fewer off notes (Jura cheesiness) and a very complementing amount of smoke. "Heavily peated" for a Jura, mind you. Would not spend 40 EUR for this NAS, but is decent, for what it is.

  7. thebonewolf scored this whisky 82 points Expert Senior

A solid offering, I think the peat helps a lot. I’m not necessarily sad it’s discontinued as it wouldn’t be a terribly frequent buy, but if Jura does have future releases on the peatier side I’ll definitely seek them out.
    • Nose
      84 84
Smoke, fruit cargo room of a wooden ship. Buttered popcorn after resting.
    • Taste
      83 83
      Spicy, salty, honey. Wood.
    • Finish
      80 80
Smoked nuts. Slight spice. Medium. Smoky honey on the tail end.

  8. Martin1965 scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Smoked fish, caramel, maritime notes, fruits
    • Taste
      Smoke, fruits, barley
    • Finish
Medium length with smoke and spices

  9. Abadon05 scored this whisky 81 points Expert Senior

Interesting nose, but that's it. Very flat in the taste and finish.

  10. Calmar scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Classy whisky, very rich, vibrant, whole, perfectly balanced, with elaborate details, a wide palette of derivatives, strong, captivating, a wonderful combination of smoky peat and fruit and sherry foundations.
    • Nose
Open, dry, juicy notes of peat and smoke, charred branches, smoked fish, unexpectedly raisins, sweet creamy shades, tropical fruits, everything is very soft, round.
    • Taste
Powerful, rich, sweet peat, smoky raisins, ash, creamy notes, dried grapes, burnt oak, fried nuts, tobacco, leather goods, cocoa, dark chocolate, candied fruit from tropical fruits, peat, cola again, beer caramel motifs.
    • Finish
Soft, refreshing, peat, tropical fruits, orange peels, mint, eucalyptus, spicy oak, raisins, cola, smoke, nuts.

  11. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

Beautiful, maritime smoker. Will be pretty dry in the end, but the smoke and tobacco note is really nice in the end.
    • Nose
First, a rather youthful peat note, but it quickly vanishes. The whisky is now clearly full in the nose. Peat, without being killed by the peat, sweet, possibly sherry, harbor, a bit dirty, salt and sewing machine oil. A great, slightly more complex smoker's nose.
    • Taste
pleasant drinking, but still good start. First salt, then peat, then pepper, with some oak and a subtle sweetness.
    • Finish
Pepper, and quite a bit. Then peat and smoke notes, dry oak.

  12. Alex Fridays scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

The colour is amber. The nose is strongly peaty with creosote, salt, grass, seaweeds, white fruits and perfume notes. The palate has notes of peated smoke, salt, white fruits, oak and grass. The finish is long with spices, peated smoke, white fruits, oak, vanilla and grass notes. Prophecy is a well balanced peated whisky. It’s closer to its neighbours from Islay, but with Jura soul. I like it.

  17. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

I like, strong, idiosyncratic, has character. With 60 € in the liter bottle fair prizes.
    • Nose
Not easy, hard to describe. Reminiscent of no Islay whisky, quite idiosyncratic, cool-smoky, ashen-metallic (but does not look young or immature), a bit salty, I think there is also a corner grapefruit, some peppermint, ground cumin - quite fresh, open.
    • Taste
oily, earthy, leathery, then sweetness, first nougat, later sugar beet syrup, coffee, neat pepper ... that is not round and elegant, but robust, dirty, edgy, intense, the ashen-metallic smoke comes through again and again, but it fits well
    • Finish
long, dry, peppery, ash, liquorice, more pepper

I'm not that big a fan of Jura's 10YO, but this was OK.
    • Nose
Jura peat smoke, it's coastal but not as intense as islay peat.

Sea salt, some sweetness and a nice undertone of charred oak.
    • Taste
Peat is more up front on the palette, and it got a somewhat sour expression. Some vanilla sweetness, orange fruit, buiding up on spice.
    • Finish
As the spice recide the peat takes over once again. Quite long, and as the peat weakens there's still a moment left with a more pure clean smoke.

  26. Goethe scored this whisky 83 points Connoisseur

A very peated Jura with some nice special components assorting well with the peat.

    Concerning price/performance ratio: 7/10
    • Nose
Smoke, vanilla, caramel, some wine cask influence, resiniferous, salt.
    • Taste
Smoke, oil, tar, cinnamon, cold smoke, ashes, some fruits.
    • Finish
Long. Smoke, licorice, ashes, getting a bit dry.

    • Nose
Klein hintje spiritus, verder mild zoetig, nougat, noten, vanille, ananas
    • Taste
Mild van smaak, zacht maar wat dunnig mondgevoel, geen uitgesproken dominante smaken, misschien wat peer, noten: amandel
    • Finish
      Vrij kort

    Nose:-
Salty peat with strangely... soft pleasant floral notes. Quite pungent
and heating but touches of citrus orange and sweet cinnamon pleasing the
    nose. Eucalyptus.

Palate:- Balance and bold mouthfeel. Sour fruits and strong oak influence, prickly, winey and dry.

Finish:- Lasting, good depth and throat warming. Oakiness and spicy lingers.

Peated and sweet at the beginning. After a while you can sense hospital, shoe polish, smoked meat, sea salt.
    • Taste
Not so complex as nose, but main sense is peat, there are also some fruits, malt and sea salt.
    • Finish
      Pretty long and peated.

a good peated whisky, which is quite different from the islay style, due to the strong jura-character, which shines through the peat cloud. but it's not exceptional. rather the daily dram quality. so I find it a bit overpriced.
    • Nose
not extremely peaty at first, you still get the typical and pretty different jura character, wax, leather, soil, diesel, iodine, old jute sacks, some orange, some black pepper covered salami.
    • Taste
soft arrival, good oily mouth-feel, medium body, sour notes dominate, earthy, leathery, walnuts, the smoke grows and grows, some iodine, some artisan mustard.
    • Finish
long, peaty, apple peels, brine, black pepper.

My favourite Jura. There is a huge peat blast as you swallow but curiously this disapperars after you have had the bottle open for a few weeks.
    • Nose
Quite sweet on the nose initially then peat smoke and sea salt dominate.
    • Taste
Like the nose, it begins with malt sweetness but then peat smoke and sea salt take over proceedings.
    • Finish
A huge peaty blast in a very long finish. Sea salt creeps back in.

  42. GlenSikkes did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

    Tasting Notes and Comments by Jura;

Heavily peated with fresh cinnamon and spicy sea spray.

Matured without chill filtration for a huge peaty punch, this complex whisky is aged in Limousine oak casks. Some taste peat smoke, fresh cinnamon and spicy sea spray, but like any great story, it's all open to interpretation.

This is a whisky to enjoy with friends as you toast to the future Pairs nicely with smoked Mackerel, crème caramel, Dunsyre blue and bitter chocolate.• Gold Best in Class at The International Spirits            Challenge 2013

Best Jura in my books for now. Worth a try for Islay lovers wanting something different. If you liked it, try Longrow and Port Charlotte also. http://www.whisky-bros.lt/en/isle-of-jura-prophecy
    • Nose
Smoke, oak and apricot jam. Hints of vanilla and honey, some nice traces of sweet peat.
    • Taste
Lots of honey with some sawdust. Peppers and sweet smoke. Notes of cinnamon, orange peel and apricot jam.
    • Finish
Long and with some significant notes od bitter cinnamon and some peat that lasts for a while.

  44. Alex scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

Surprisingly high peat levels in this one well balanced with sweetness (orange lemonade) and wood spices. Good body. Not so complex, but not boring either. High quality whisky.

  45. erogers scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

This is a very unusual heavily peated whisky.  It’s not like other non-Islay peated whiskies.  It’s not like an Islay peated whisky, either.  There is a very intense smoked meat aroma and taste.  The main smoke notes are of hickory/mesquite, and there is a tangy smoke BBQ taste that weaves its way through the entire experience.  It’s a complex, unique whisky that I thoroughly enjoy, although it isn’t one I’d drink regularly.  However, when I’m in the mood for this kind of smoky whisky experience, it is the perfect (and perhaps the only) choice.
    • Nose
Mesquite barbecue sauce, cinnamon, leather, and wet peat with hickory smoke.
    • Taste
Cinnamon, spice, dark roast coffee, peat smoke, salt water, and hints of molasses.
    • Finish
Tingly, complex, and long, with complex smoke and salted meat (bacon).
