    a complex malt
if you like sulfur and bitter notes, that's good
    he was nothing to me
he needs time and be careful with water
    • Nose
Lacquer / solvent, old oak, old sherry, spicy, brown apple, light meat sauce, leather is getting more, tobacco is getting, nuts are getting more, Maggi cabbage is getting more, slightly dark caramel

with water: a lot of Maggi cabbage, a lot of old wood, sweet, green herbs, nutty, late cheese
    • Taste
full and strong on the palate
Sulfur !!, red and dark berries, slightly plastic, raisins, old slightly musty oak, sherry, spicy

with water: more sulfur, tart, spicier
    • Finish
Oak, spicy, sulfur becomes more, becomes tart, espresso, bitter

Nose: Carbonated wine, quite a lot of citrus, slight acidity
Taste: Sparkling wine palpable from the first sip. In the following attempts a bit of dryness and dust. Sherry aromas, where and where. The whole is quite nicely connected. The aroma is quite strong.
Rating: 88 | 100 Medium long finish with sherry elements. A curious Glengoyne because I don't think I have had one yet.

A neat malt with a not ordinary sherry ripening. In direct comparison I like the PX matured Glengoyne much better. This one does not tolerate water. This robs him of extreme strength, which he can put undistorted beautiful in scene. Overall, however, he is still behind 15er standard bottling
    • Nose
sour apples; spicy but light oak; Caramel and drier, sherry; a slight bitterness is present; Almonds and hazelnuts; Sultanas and vanilla; alcohol is clearly present at first, but evaporates over time; with some time come pepper and nutmeg; the dry flies and makes room for dark, sweet chocolate; the apple aroma becomes much more intense with water it gets really spicy and the dry sherry becomes more dominant
    • Taste
very chocolaty; spicy oak; Here the alcohol is present, but not intrusive; Pepper and nutmeg; Raisins and prunes; again a little vanilla with water it loses its power and aromas; slightly creamy; Chocolate; Peanuts and oak
    • Finish
medium to long; very oak and sherrylastig; the palate remains beautifully peppery and spicy; the oak neatly nibbles at the end with water he also loses much of his strength; the finish is still medium; however, it lacks supporting aromas

    • Nose
Overripe bright fruits, match, gunpowder. Flowery, a little vanilla. Gravel.
    • Taste
First sweet and slightly peppery. Then ginger, malt, honey, chocolate, coffee.

An unusual whisky, very fruity, but also meaty. The nose is interesting but its strength is the aroma in the mouth and the finish
    • Nose
a bit meaty, then comes the sherry and plums and cherries to some alcohol
    • Taste
Alcohol, then sherry, very pleasant, raisins, plums merging into a touch of draft, it is a bit viscous
    • Finish
Malt notes and the plums remain and at the very end, the oak tannins are very slightly absorbed

  7. Othorion scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

I really like Glengoyne and I really like it too!
    • Nose
Plums in rum, vanilla, lemon, candied ginger, fermented apples, almost a thought of light moder, but pleasant, nutmeg. With water: even sweeter and more fruity
    • Taste
Strong onset, peppery, ginger, salivation, oily and full in the mouth, again plums, again this slight thought of moder, slightly bitter-fruity, towards grapefruit. With water: I like it even better, now also coffee notes and nutmeg, the grapefruit is stronger, while ginger and plums step back a bit, more harmonious overall
    • Finish
Slightly bitter grapefruit and coffee in the relatively long-lasting and warming finish.

A very subtle and multifaceted malt. Complex, rich with a spicy oak
finish. Using Palo Cortado casks to finish whisky is rare. In fact
Glengoyne is one of the only distilleries that work with Palo Cortado
casks on a regular basis. However, I detected not much of the Palo
Cortado in this whisky. Obviously, it did not have enough time to impart
    its character.

    • Nose
The nose starts off with delicate notes of prunes, toffee and vanilla.
With time, hints of candied lemon emerge, nicely intermingling with
lovely spices, such as nutmeg, cinnamon, and a whiff of ginger.
    • Taste
Oh yes - this is lovely sweet and fruity with prunes, accompanied by
slightly bitter orange peel. Oily on the palate with pleasantly warming
spices - cinnamon and ginger in particular. Creamy notes of caramel
gorgeously linger with slightly dry nutty flavours towards the finish.
    • Finish
The finish is long, sweet and slightly warming. Becomes a bit drier in
the end with delicate walnuts, oak, caramelised ginger and nutmeg.

WITH WATER: There's almost no change on the nose with a few drops of
water. Still sweet and fruity on the palate with more creamy toffee
flavours, nicely mixed with oak, ginger, cinnamon and a bitter touch of
orange peel. The finish is long, slightly warming with significantly
more walnut flavours. Becomes drier on the tail with oak, cinnamon and
