On the banks of the River Bush, there used to be a watermill, hence the name 'Bushmills'. Licensed in 1608, it's one of the oldest distilleries in the world. Light and engaging, the nose of this triple distilled Single Malt combines sour peach, orange peel and mild spices with delicate notes of chive and thyme. Remarkably solid for 40% ABV, the palate is fruity, malty sweet and well-balanced. Banana, pears and a touch of menthol are rounded off by pleasant hints of oak. Lime, fresh mint and some bitter tannins mark the short finish. The Irish Glenfiddich?

Pretty solid for a 40% yet going down dangerously easy.
Not one to be mesmerized by, but tasty enough for an enjoyable evening sipper.
I find this a lot better than for instance the Green Spot.
    • Nose
      85 85
Refreshingly fruity with a tinge of sour citrus.
      Green banana, lots of it.
      Peach and pear.
Soft wood notes in the background.
    • Taste
      81 81
Sweeter than it smells, but still well in tune with the nose.
      Again lots of yellow fruit.
Citrus not as noticeable, and bananas has ripened a little.
    • Finish
      80 80
Medium length. Slightly drying wood with an almost mouthwash mintyness.

Very fresh and refreshing. Sweet. Fruit mass. Peaches, apricots, definitely tropical fruits. Bananas. Pleasant, well hidden alcohol. On the second time, a ripe red apple comes out.
    • Taste
      81 81
Sweet, caramel. A lot of fruits. More tropical fruit, but I think a bit of oak bitterness also comes out. Later, even notes of fresher fruit appear.
    • Finish
      80 80
Sweet, caramel. Even more so, burnt caramel. Maybe some sweet young wood. Somewhere in the background some fresh fruit. Tropical fruits reappear. And fresh fruit again. Then again some sweet and bitter aromas of fresh wood. Average finish length.

    Nothing special
Not a bad option for warming up receptors before tasting

    - good Irish standard single malt
    - simple and straightforward, always works!
    - for about 25 € an average single malt
    • Nose
      Sherry, sweetness, mild and malty
    • Taste
Irish mild style, soft start, malty note, in the mouth a stronger alcohol development follows
    • Finish
      short, very quick finish;
      medium-long, malty, somewhat sharp aftertaste

  10. Svarttt scored this whisky 76 points Expert Senior

After a long time in the offer again. Nice, pleasant, a bit of malt, fruit, vanilla, doesn't hurt anyone.
Good to drink with friends who don't really like whiskey.
It's too thin for the kinky palate.
