  1. Calmar scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Excellent smoke-rubber bolt, young, rusty, fervent, perfectly balanced, spicy with a very diverse and deep aroma.
    • Nose
Strongly expressed, warm rubber - sun-heated rubber, porous rubber sealant, smoky tones, warm coals of a burnt fire, grain notes, malt, putty for windows, wood dust, fondant, boiled sugar.
    • Taste
Powerful pepper wave, then a duo of sweetness and rubber, a lot of rubber, it is diverse and multifaceted, coal, grapefruit crusts, burnt branches, burnt sugar.
    • Finish
Soft, smoke-oak with notes of caramel sweets, rubber, a few lemon crusts, lemon in sweet tea, orange peel, ginger.

good powerful ledaig - smoke with farm notes, something olive-industrial, probably some stain, burnt wood, lemon, pepper, oak. In contrast to 09, the brand rubber is almost not felt. 22-22.5-22.5-22

Nose: peat. I usually don't like it, but this one looks like it has something hidden. a floral note but cannot really describe it as the peat is interfering with my nose.

Initial taste: Salty! liqourish, but more sweet than peat, caramel sweetness (oak influence?)

    Body: medium-heavy a bit oily

Finish: long, the peat comes up and goed

Price: a little expensive but if you really like peat you might go for it.

Presentation: I don't know this was a sample

Comments: sample from sampleswap with Hvdree.
I don't get to like peated whisky's. please forgive me scoring low.

Tasting Notes by Whiskyfun.com (December 11, 2009)Ledaig 8 yo 2005/2013 (54.2%, Maltbarn, bourbon barrel) Colour: very pale white wine. Nose: and sweeter yet, even if styles are similar. This time there are fruits coming through, around pineapples and pears. That’s youth. The problem, if I may, is that they are blending extremely well with the briny and ashy and smoky style of this baby. With water: not anymore, this one’s now greasier, sootier, with notes of damp earth and our dear friends the wet dogs (I’m sorry, dogs.) Mouth (neat): check the Whisky-Fässle, we’re in the same ballpark. With water: great, very clean, perhaps narrow, but yeah, that adds to the cleanliness. Finish: long and good (bravo, S.!) Comments: that’s the problem with this kind session, it can be tiring. SGP:446 - 87 points.

Color: Riesling - lots of little fast running legs

Nose: Yeah! This is the great Ledaig-Nose at its best. Dirty, dry smoke & peaty, maritime, earthy. Alcohol is well integrated.

Palate: All you can expect from such a young Islander. Tar, peat, getting heavy on rubber (reminding me of the SSMC Port Charlotte of 2013), more on the dry side, some lemons in the background.

Finish: Medium long, also on rubber and tar, zesty in the background.

With some water: I think just perfect without water.

    Upshot: Great value for money.
