Exceptionally through the beer barrel storage, smoke bomb
    • Nose
Sour smoke, stale beer from the previous day in the beer glut, like a recently burned wooden hut in the Swiss Alps,
Smokehouse with black smoked ham, open fire, smoked meat
    • Taste
Ham and bacon, which has just come out of the smokehouse, smoked beer, dark strong beer, surprisingly sweet caramel notes, alpine herbs
    • Finish
Juicy, long smoke and very appetizing

A splitter that may have little to do with classic whisky. Nonetheless, the Trinity is simply an extraordinary part that I always love. As unconventional as it is, I enjoy it as much. Permanent guest in my closet. Available in early 2020 for around € 40-45.
    • Nose
Sweet and spicy wood smoke still and sore. Barbecue sauce, smoked ham marinated in honey, open fire, smokers, spices and smoke like at the Christmas market. A typical whisky smell is only very far away. After the first sip, it becomes sweeter in the nose, reminiscent of blueberry jam and care oil for garden furniture. With water it opens up significantly, more whisky flavors, but the Christmas market and jam still dominate.
    • Taste
Wood stove, sauna, smoked fish. With water sweeter, gingerbread, the jam again, above all the wood stove hovers from the Christmas market. Mouthfeel somewhat furry. The 52% give the aromas a lot of strength, but are by no means too much.
    • Finish
Sweet and spicy wood smoke. The blueberry jam is most present in the finish. Again the gingerbreads, sticky sweetness, Christmas flavors. In the empty glass, the herbal note remains very clearly, which I find difficult in the whisky because of all the other flavors and at most in the form of gingerbread.

    A great surprise for YES.
The Swiss Santis Malt Edition Dreifaltigkeit appeared in 2010 and in that year it was recognized by Jim Murray as the best European whisky. Barley comes from nearby crops, water was taken from a mountain spring near the distillery, peat - from the Appenzell High Moor peat bog in Gonten. The track and various types of wood were used for drying. For aging, spent old beer barrels, with a capacity of 80 liters aged 60 to 130 years old, were used. Whisky is unfiltered cold and has a natural color. The name "Dreifaltigkeit" refers to the rock formations found in the Alps.

Sweet, dried plum, slightly peat, baked apple, beer, cinnamon, dried mushrooms, pepper, cherry in chocolate, caramel.
    • Taste
      87 87
Sweet, honey, dark chocolate, raisin, ginger, spices, cinnamon, dried fish, wood, vanilla, caramel.
    • Finish
      90 90
Sweet, dried plum, peat, chocolate, raisins, spices, smoked fish

Could never drink anything comparable. Certainly not for everyone, but who dares gets a very hearty, interesting whisky
    • Nose
      93 93
Smoke, leather, strong beer, smoked bacon, log fire

      Dry and very slightly sweet
    • Taste
      92 92
Burnt wood, smokehouse, smoky caramel, slightly sweetish.
    • Finish
      91 91
Dry, smoked bacon, smoke, short to medium but the smoke stays very long,

Phew ... that's hard art. I hardly dare to drink from the nose alone.

Nose: sour, moldy straw, mixed with furniture polish

Taste: sipped on it, similar to the nose, a lot of liquorice, highly concentrated Black Forest bacon, but overall not much more identifiable ... the rest of the sample is unfortunately thrown away

Aftertaste: with a lot of time, Black Forest bacon comes in a "normal" dose.

    very extravagant whisky
    • Nose
      82 82
      smoked prunes, dark ale
    • Taste
      80 80
very rich, even sugary, smoke, a lot of dried fruits
    • Finish
      80 80
      medium, dried fruit with bitterness

Especially in a very unusual way. Very intense, greasy and yes, also a little fishy. Just a board. Certainly not for every day, but in between for a change if you like it powerful.

  9. schengel10 scored this whisky 78 points Connoisseur

A very unusual brand - interesting and well done.
    [Color] mahogany
    • Nose
      Smoke, herbs, bitter substances (stale, stale beer), spices, oak;
    • Taste
      with water: aromatic, unusual smoke / incense, burnt herbs, spices (ginger, pepper), gingerbread, caramel;
    • Finish
      medium-long finish, smoke, spices;

Tasting 77 days after uncorking with the bottle emptied to 3/4. The smoky fish notes, which were very clear at the beginning, have disappeared, the emphasis on smoke and spicy oak has also pleasantly regressed. Overall positive development.
Rich brown-gold color with hints of dark beer.
With 48% more pleasing, but with 52% much more expressive and clearly preferred by me today.
Interesting and very original. The oxidation in the empty bottle has a positive effect. A tasting experience of a special kind, especially suitable for pipe-smoking lovers of smoked ham and Schlenkerla (Bamberg smoked beer).
    • Nose
      87 87
Beech wood chimney smoke, juicy and strong smoked ham, also earthy beer notes (nicely integrated). Then coffee and dark chocolate. Later menthol, some medicine and lots of herbs.
    • Taste
      88 88
powerful with pleasant spice, smoke, ham and beer. Herbs, honey, liquorice, caramel and tasty sweetness are both iridescent and at the same time. Mouthfeel pleasantly creamy despite the ABV.
    • Finish
      88 88
persistent and very intense, you can still feel everything that was previously presented to the nose and palate
