a beautiful very consistent whisky with a clear line
after the delicious but for Ardbegverhältnisse quite a short departure
    you want more immediately
a whisky you do not just want to experience
    you also want to drink
    More please!

    • Nose
smoky and peaty with seawater and salty sea air, dried cherries and pines essential oil
the flavors invite you to drink ... mmh
    • Taste
a mountain of soft chocolate lands on your tongue and melts there to glowing smoke with cherry-cherry flavor
The chocolate will dry and stay on the palate, the smoke will roll over your tongue into your throat and the cherry pits will turn into beautiful malt sweetness in your mouth
    • Finish
medium, at the beginning dry chocolate bitter in alternation with malty sweet
      extinguished embers, malt, chocolate,

really enjoy the lingering floral finish this Ardbeg brings me
    • Nose
classic ardbeg, sea, lightly peaty, some citric, very light pineapple
    • Taste
Very balanced whisky - honey, lemon peel, a little bit of peaty, floral, a bit of pepper at the end. Very easy to drink (as if it is
    • Finish
Very long and strong floral finish, the honey and floral finish just stay for so long that you can still taste the most lovely part of this experience after you've swollowed it for a long time

Come on guys, I've seen loads of 89 here, maybe you're just too stinky to givva 90, don't be soooo pretentious and be saving high scores for 1975, this is clearly a excellent dram that worth 90.
    • Nose
Luxury pale peat & ash, smoke, burnt tires, falling leaves, lemon custard, butter & malt
    • Taste
BBQ, tar, lemon, orange peel, blackcurrant, rosemary, almond. Tastes 20% sherry and 80% bourbon cask
    • Finish
      long with tar & ash

This is the sexiest single malt I have ever had the pleasure to spend the night with.

  7. Thermidor scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

This is both a very clean Ardbeg and one that's very easy to like.
    • Nose
Vanilla - both a sweet sugarish aroma and a richer note more like ice cream. Sea air, pine soap, and some smoke.  Semi-herbal with a wisp of chamois. Faint pool water smell. Vanilla sugar & baking soda.
    • Taste
The body is oily and soft with only a wisp of smoke and very little soot or bitterness. Even at 18 years old the wood isn't very loud. In fact it's taking the backbench. The palate has a bit more character than the nose. Oven soot, salmiak, plaster, soft bourbon wood.
    • Finish
Ardbeg claims the taste has a hint of bacon but compared to the Uigeadail I can't spot it; only a delicate cream and slightly flowery aftertaste. Icecream and seashores return.

  9. peathead scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
a lot of peat and smoke, what 'alcoholic' and yet I notice some sweetness (vanilla). After some 'breathing' there was less peat and smoke and more sweetness. My wife mainly smelled flowers and honey. She liked it. With water, the whole thing is even sweeter à la ANB.
    • Taste
very direct, powerful and 'in your face' but terribly tasty and so typical Ardbeg. Much better than the normal Ten, partly because of the high alcohol percentage. With water the weather is much sweeter, but much more in balance.
    • Finish
firm with peat, smoke, licorice. It gets a lot softer when there is some water, but this remains a 'kick-ass' whisky.
