If you like smoky blended whisky, this would come in as an affordable option.
    • Nose
Sweet smoke, in fact a lot of smoke, dried fruits
    • Taste
Sweet, a little spicy over the tongue, prune, easy to drink and not too burning
    • Finish
Medium finish, the smokiness came out again after taste. Rather simple expression

Very nicely put together. Tart nuts, grassy notes and subtle smoke. Then it becomes delicately phenolic, salty and slightly maritime. In the background, dried fruit, oak, polished leather and slightly musty sherry.
    • Taste
      83 83
Spicy start and very lively. Fine citrus tones, salt, fine smoke, pepper, and peat. A solid backbone of grain aromas forms the background.
    • Finish
      84 84
Tart oak, dark chocolate, fine smoke and delicate sherry tones combine in a long finale.

A fresh dram, preferred for the appetizer rather than after dinner....
    • Nose
      82 82
Alcohol and floral notes, some marine note
    • Taste
      86 86
Delicate peat, fresh on the tongue and spicy notes
    • Finish
      83 83
Dry and fresh, peat and pepper stay at last....

This has a nice mouth feel and a reasonable sweet peat blast. Do not be a snob about this. for £28 it is very enjoyable. I compared it to a well regarded supermarket single malt from Islay and it had much fuller  flavour.

I like this, worth trying and worth the money
    • Nose
Plum, prune, hints of peat (reminded me of Lagavulin but a restrained version), hints of smoked bacon, hint of orange.
    • Taste
Smokey, peaty but a gentle peat, a little plain chocolate, dark caramel, not particularly full bodied but ok
    • Finish
      Approaching medium and slightly bitter.
