A delicate, rich, balanced and complex whisky with aromas of honey, floral tones, pineapple, papaya, berries, tangerine, fresh figs, mirabelle plum, vanilla, gooseberry, red currents, blue berries, a soft hint of acetone, green walnuts, oak sap, leather, toasted oak, white chocolate, toffee, beeswax, golden raisins, rum, brown sugar, banana, almonds and fresh backed pastry.
A rich, full, powerful and complex whisky with aromas of vanilla, caramel, pepper, honey, lemon juice, tangerine (preserved), hint to licorice root, laurel, grass, butter, beeswax, lemon oil, apricot, cinnamon, banana, sweet cloves, soft bitter tannins, oak, cognac, grapefruit zest, varnish, sultana’s, soft hint of smoke and rum
a long and slightly drying finish with aromas of pepper, hint to sea salt, grapefruit peal, berries, varnish, oak, tannins, mannuka honey, caramel and a hint of wine.
This is a fruit driven dram with nice complex tones of wood. The sherry butt seemed not that active (or has been re-re-used) as the sherry flavours don’t really come through in this dram. They play a back ground role and add a subtle complexity. All in all this is a lovely and well balanced Bunnahabhain. I can certainly recommend it!
