Terrific Bunna, complex, very fruity and well balanced. My initial tasting notes were taken from a sample. March 2019 I have opened the bottle and as I spend some time with it, it is becoming even more appealing.
    • Nose
      90 90
A very fruity and rich nose. Peach, apricot, pineapple, some mango, strawberry fraisier, creamy, waxy, vanilla, a slighty floral honey note, sultana raisins, nutty (mainly almonds), cardamom and a little cinnamon. After a while also a shortbread cookie note pops up.
    • Taste
      91 91
A continuing fruitiness with peach, apricot, pineapple and citrus notes. A fruitcake sweetness with layers of honey and caramelized apples, also some mild spiciness with pepper and ginger. Great, just great.
    • Finish
      89 89
Medium to long: honied sweetness, dried peaches, citrus and a subtle drying wood spiciness. Maybe just a little underwhelming compared to the experience of nose and taste.

    Nose:
Very good. Sweet and little fruity. There is some kind of Clynelish waxyness in here. Slight salty too. With a drop of water there is more toffee and caramel to be found.

    Taste:
Sweet and again waxy. Freshly cut wood, a little tannic. But here are a lot of fruits to be found.

    Body:
    Full and waxy

    Finish:
medium length. A little tropical fruitiness. It fades away with a bit of tannines.

    Price:
Don't know, this was a sample

    • Taste

    • Finish

    Colour:

    Light gold.

    Smell:

A delicate, rich, balanced and complex whisky with aromas of honey, floral tones, pineapple, papaya, berries, tangerine, fresh figs, mirabelle plum, vanilla, gooseberry, red currents, blue berries, a soft hint of acetone, green walnuts, oak sap, leather, toasted oak, white chocolate, toffee, beeswax, golden raisins, rum, brown sugar, banana, almonds and fresh backed pastry.

    Taste:

A rich, full, powerful and complex whisky with aromas of vanilla, caramel, pepper, honey, lemon juice, tangerine (preserved), hint to licorice root, laurel, grass, butter, beeswax, lemon oil, apricot, cinnamon, banana, sweet cloves, soft bitter tannins, oak, cognac, grapefruit zest, varnish, sultana’s, soft hint of smoke and rum

    Finish:

a long and slightly drying finish with aromas of pepper, hint to sea salt, grapefruit peal, berries, varnish, oak, tannins, mannuka honey, caramel and a hint of wine.

    Conclusion:

This is a fruit driven dram with nice complex tones of wood. The sherry butt seemed not that active (or has been re-re-used) as the sherry flavours don’t really come through in this dram. They play a back ground role and add a subtle complexity. All in all this is a lovely and well balanced Bunnahabhain. I can certainly recommend it!

Tasted during a blind tasting competition in June 2015.
    • Nose
Bananas and tropical fruit galore! Kruidnagel, vanille.
    • Taste
Fris, wederom tropical fruit galore!
