This is a dram that's just more than the sum of its (very impressive) parts. This is an amazingly well-rounded dram and shows its age in the development of the distillery character more than just more wood influence. Layered but focused, this is a dram that demands your full attention. Lovely, lovely stuff.
    • Nose
What a nose; incredibly nice and waxy smokiness. Melon, lemon and pears all drenched in honey. Not the sweet fabricated honey but wild honey, straight from the grate.
    • Taste
Incredibly smooth and thick. Vanilla and wild honey are most apparent, with amazing underlying tobacco notes. Very buttery and malty as well. The cask doesn't shine through but the typical waxy distillery character of Clynelish does.
    • Finish
Long, slightly smoky finish. Very waxy and sweet, with a grapefruity note I always seem to get from Clynelish. There are also some more sweet and ripe fruits on the back end, some banana and pears.
