- A great malt. I really need a glass of Glengoyne from a sherry keg. : Love:
Dark amber. Mezzo mix
Full, ripe and set. Let's have a look ... 14 years. OK…
A very nice cherry flavor welcomes you first. Sugared raisins, clear liquorice, some herbal liqueur and berries. Leather and slightly mineral. Damp forest floor and plum jam. Jo, the mint I think so too. Just like the juicy oranges and honey. In the background, sour, dark berries have settled. A very dense aroma. With a little time in the glass, nutmeg goes through beautifully. The alcohol does not bother in any way. Does not stand out either.
Big start. A very sweet start. The mouth is licked like a liqueur. Now more vanilla, licorice and moist tobacco. Sweetened, warm peppermint tea.
At the second sip more oak and mineral. But now plum and berries get through better. I have such light roasted aromas in my mouth. Tasty part!
Medium to long. Still liqueur sweet. Licorice and some sweetened espresso. Light oak flavor

Glengoyne 14 yo 1999/2013 (59.6%, Malts of Scotland, World Single Malt, sherry hogshead, cask #MoS 13068, 240 bottles) Colour: deep amber. Nose: maybe a little fruitier than the previous one, but the style are very close. A little more towards raisins and sweet wine. Rivesaltes, quality PX… Also the oranges in this are wonderful. Mouth: oh lovely, some earth, some humus, some mint and some moss on top of the classic rich sherriness. Love the liquorice and roots in this. I’ll have to try to mature gentian eau-de-vie in a sherry butt one day! Finish: long, sweet and spicy, plus a bag of oranges, both crystallised and fresh. Comments: this one’s perfect, and it’s got more ‘dimension’, with this liquorice and gang. Ex-peater sherry-treated hogshead? SGP:562 - 90 points.
