    Fantastic provenance, perfect balance of starch, smoke, spices, slightly dry fruit.
    • Nose
      Nose: Very nice nose, somewhat atypical PE, in some ways reminiscent of very old Guyana rums, dry, light, cold smoke and sweet spices such as camphor, saffron, cumin, tick oregano, fennel, dry, freshly grated cocoa, dry salami , Licorice, a hint of caraway
    • Taste
      The Islay toffees with smoke like Tobermory's, saffron, oregano, dry, beautiful leather, camphor, chamomile, fennel, beautiful oak, great cocoa behind it, dried tobacco, wild berries and parchment
    • Finish
      Licorice, Charcoal, Earl Gray, Tobacco, Blood Orange, Camphor, Long

    The nose is really extremely good, but the palate is a bit too ashy for me. 85 points.
    • Nose
      Islay in the nose. Salty smoke, algae and a little lemon. But I also immediately have salt caramel in my nose. Crazy! The citrus note becomes a bit fuller and now reminds of orange. And then grilled peach creeps in, becoming more and more intense. The smoke goes back, but comes out more clearly with a little hand warmth. An aromatic oak also resonates, which becomes more intense as the smoke breaks down. While the whisky is in the mouth, some fine vanilla pours into the nose.
    • Taste
      Sweet at first. Rich apple cider. Full and juicy. Then, it doesn't take long for soot to come into play. Slightly bitter. Burnt wood. Charred morass. The bitterness is palpable in the taste. Burnt baguette.
    • Finish
      Medium length and not really warm. What remains is a subtly bitter ash.

    [January, 2010]  Together with friends I emptied a bottle that I bought for 81,50 Euro in November, 2004.

    [September, 2015]  Together with friends I emptied another bottle that I bought for 81,50 Euro in November, 2004.

    In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored this 90 and 87,5.  My notes state a minor sulphurous impression which is marginal and not annoying in this case.  Without the sulphur it would have been a 90+ score.

    Rough Islay with character and some nice sweetness from the Sherry-cask.

    Single dram note.

    The first PE i have been able to taste and I must say that I am eager to try more of it.

    Fantastic on the palate!
    • Nose
      Clear and rough Islay-character with a lot of salt and patches of peatsmoke. But at the same time, there is this subtle and slight dark and sweet Sherry witch moves towards leather from the beginning.

      caramel, plum jam, cherries, pepper.

      Then a more heavy and slightly tart sweetness from peated dark chocolate arises.

      Cool sea breeze and smoked caramel are melting together, giving also impressions of an old garage.

      Later on there is a strong coffee and more of the leather as well, somehow like old and wet leather-shoes (as a friend stated).
    • Taste
      A lot of citrus like tangerines being there and playing almost throughout as well as other fruits like cherries, going into sweetness with cherry jam, adding some nice peat from time to time.

      Motor oil, dark chocolate, pepper, spices, smoke and some great freshness.

      There is everlasting and returning freh light brine with sspashes of lemon juice - this is truly great!

      Burnt wood, pepper and peat, clear and good Islay-character...

      Coal, manufacturing plant, hints of espresso grounds, peppery sweetness, some cocoa, some seaweed, hints of ash, slightly oily with a bit of salt, not too dry.

    Nose: Sweet Sherry with fine sea salt notes, with smoke and a subtle peat note; Appearances of lemon and vanilla as well as raisins.
    Taste: Very salty, more vanilla, sherry with light wood aromas. Attractions of old cognac.
    Finish: Earthy, ever-drier oak notes, accompanied by vanilla and leather. Tender peat, embedded in light smoke, with very dark chocolate.
    Remark: Stay dry and stick a bit woody on the palate.

    Original Tasting Notes:With old leather and seaweed on the nose, this could whip lovers of Islay Malts into a frenzy! Its medium to oily body carriers spices, seaweed and pepper initially to finish on long notes, typically Islay in style, of seaweed, leather and brine.
