    Very tasty, you might wish for a little more depth. Otherwise quite "typical" and very clean in the nose.

      opens slowly but steadily - brilliant syrupy yellow fruit, salt, complex floral noble mined smoke, soot, campfire smoke, sea air, some cowshed, polished wood, very oily, freshly mown herb meadow

      Endless yellow fruits, eucalyptus, mint, candied lemon peel, Ricola, notes of grass, here again a hint of cowshed and a delicious Old School pea influence that is comparatively strong on the nose

    Very tasty Port Ellen. A very rare pleasure these days.

      Salty - mineral, powerful, sea breeze, sour
      yellow fruit and citrus aromas.
    • Taste
      98 98
      Immediately very sweet, salty - mineral, slightly ashy
      Smoke, sour - yellow fruity, metallic and peppery.
    • Finish
      94 94
      Peppery, salty, sweet, yellow-fruity and mouthwashing.
      Afterwards a bit bitter - sweet.

      Conclusion: The taste borders on perfection for me.
      A really powerful and yet gentle archetype
      of an Islay whisky.

    Port Ellen - that's the premier class!
    • Nose
      98 98
      salty (spray-like), slight metallic odor (reminiscent of DT Bowmore from the 80s - but no lavender scent), citrus,
      fresh & fruity (kiwi, gooseberry -> balanced sweet / sour smell note),
      Vanilla, hint of tannins
      leathery / earthy
      Alcohol wonderfully integrated, smooth flow of tears (feet slowly run down oily in the glass)

      All in all, the smell of sea spray predominates (salty oxidation with metal - I like that!)

      The 56% strike, but not destructively.
      Tingly salty / sweet (nice contrast).
      Oily / supple in the mouth, the whole oral cavity is filled with it.
      The alcohol fizzles and a fruitiness (the red berries) fills the mouth. Coffee flavors mix with the wood tones. Liquorice? no, it's something like that but not liquorice. I can't figure it out - but I find it very interesting and tasty (hmmm?) Spices but not spicy but rather mysterious oriental (perfumed / spicy / crunchy)
      Yes, and the metallic note can be tasted clearly.
      Then again coffee / cocoa notes, delicious, delicious!

      Long-lasting (all flavor aromas stay in the mouth and throat for a very long time)
