Whisky Reviews for Littlemill 1990 LS

- Very mild for a cask strength whisky. The balance is also very good. As a result, it is (logically) not that extremely expressive. But for friends of a delicious "breakfast whisky" this is definitely a great option. What I particularly liked: It is not that sweet, despite a lot of fruit. That’s really special. The first thing that comes to mind is banana. Also icing sugar and dried mango wedges. I loved those as a child. Should get me some, again.
A lot of vanilla makes room. Add a little apricot and orange, and also a little banana again. Then there are tons of oatmeal and cereal. I also find a little flax or dry hay every second sip. Grain coffee could also be included.
It goes on like this. Dried fruits in oatmeal. Now a little bitter and with almond slivers. Vanilla is still there and every now and then a little salt is added. Fades out relatively dry.
- A fruity distillate, honey and fresh fruits on the nose, green apple and sweet caramel. Sweet arrival, quite spirit driven, fruit drops and icing sugar. The finish is short and peppery but also tropical fruits, at least in the beginning. It becomes slightly sweeter with water but only a few drops. Hints of canned pineapple appear but also (unfortunately) with a metal kind of off-note. The nose becomes brilliant after 20 minutes in the glass, and it’s a decent lowlander but the flavors doesn’t really hold it together. It might be that I have had it in a sample bottle for some while now.
- In the mouth, the typical fruit flavors of a Littlemills come to light ..... very fine :-)
Oatmeal, orange, vanille sugar and 'lange vingers' (cookies with lemon zest).
Oatmeal, vanillla, blood orange and apricot pastry.
Vanilla sugar, apple, orange, cake and almond.
- In the nose, Banana mango sinas hint of mint cedarwood raisins dried fruit nougat, lilacs.
Taste, compote of tropical fruit, dried banana, candied fruit coffee crema, sweet peppers, later mint Citroën melisse and milk chocolate.
In the aftertaste some licorice and a light Bitter.
