Good whisky. Try tasting it blindly, you'll like it. A bit bitter/woody in the finish and of course a higher ABV would make it better, but that's about all the critique I have.

It's a nice whiskey, but with this age and price you expect something extra. I do not taste that.
    • Nose
Sweet (apple and raisin). Also a bit stale, but maybe it was on my glass.
    • Taste
Apple. Sweet. It is a soft apple sweet. A bit boring, safe and neutral.

Got from Hans Zuidema (2017). He had received it as a promotional gift.

Good balance + good complexity = good whisky. Enjoyable stuff.
    • Nose
Soft smoke, light spices and subtle fruits. Some cloves and star anise (very distant), but also oranges and pizza dough. Somewhat waxy, with a hint of honey. Surprisingly pricklish at such a low abv.
    • Taste
Big on the caramel and fudge, with whispers of bitter orange peel, milk chocolate and charred oak. Fairly spicy (that's the European oak talking) with cloves and nutmeg, followed by a pinch of salt.
    • Finish
Long, with lingering spices and dried fruits.

I tasted at the Whiskey Festival 2017. So this Ballantinka sat well, I was very surprised. But the hook is again included. If she stood at 1000, - I can imagine her as an ideal relaxing drink for moments of well-being. Beware, too, that the 40% version is done, it will probably be a bit worse.
    • Nose
Hmmmm ... on blend smells nice and full. Typically malt, with crispness and spiceiness. Cinnamon, slightly windy coniferous forest, camphor. (84 b)
    • Taste
You will know in taste that it is a blend, but I have to admit that it is very rich within its category. Fresh wood, old wood, chocolate, spices, a bit of glamor. Hazelnuts, you rarely miss Ballantine. (86 b)

N- Sea breeze, becoming custard and gluey overtimes, bready and light eucalyptus lingers. Mineral.

P- Creamy texture, combination of salted butter and sweet fruits, liquorice at the back.

F- Medium, spicy with good staying power, sweet liquorice with minty feels. Warming.
