Whisky Reviews for Clynelish 1995 DD

- A good, high quality mole with a characteristic mineral-marine aroma, a warm bitter-salty taste and a slightly lagging aftertaste.
The first wave is a wet cold pavement with a rainy November, a sponge cake with a lemon rind, then dusty boxes with a steel tool, paraffin candles, sour green apples, sea freshness, in the background something faintly hydrogen sulphide, a lot of dust - rubble, old books.
Bitter, salty, peppery, turning into a sweet bitter, the sensation seemed to chew inflorescence wormwood with a drop of honey, a mixture of red and black pepper in the background, oak and dried apricots with raisins.
Spices, white pepper, ginger on the dying bitter background, gradually turning into a sweetish-sour. Quite quickly fades out, loses strength and stretches a weak bitterness.
- Tasting Notes:
- N: beeswax (like the label) and marshmallow
T: spicy, honey, light smoke and vanilla
a bit disappointing
- The colour is straw and the nose is very clean, pure and rather fruity. It`s all on apple- juice, muesli and bread.Hints of gooseberries. Rather discreet. The palate is still very fruity, with orange drops and honey. The finish is medium long, clean, fruity, with a few resinous notes. Nice young malt!
