Surprisingly good! Sharp, yes. But distinct notes get a chance to shine through, at this price it's a fun one!

Great on from Amrut. Have to try other as well.
    • Nose
Barley, vanilla, fresh plums, ripe bananas, a little peat, but more smoke like glowing firewood. Has an exotic, different smell of malt. It is sweet, pleasant, has the aroma of dried cranberries and hints of pleasant sourness. Fresh fruits, mangoes, lemons, persimmons.
    • Taste
Makes fire in your mouth together with peppers and spices then greets you with sweetness, vanilla, wood, smoke, honey. The ripe bananas are clearly felt. In the end it has a sweetness similar to that of sauternes
    • Finish
      Long, sweet, smoky. Pleasant.

Very competently put together and obviously just as potent. Swims well, water brings out the peat more. All in all a bit two-dimensional perhaps but not at all a bad dram. Takes some effort to tame the fury... :-)

This isn’t entirely off-putting, but as is it’s not for me. Even with water I still found it incredibly hot and that heat and spice remained very present even after the palate was feeling diluted.
    • Nose
      69 69
      Dusty spice. Nutty.
    • Taste
      71 71
Hot and spicy, similar spices as in the nose.
    • Finish
      72 72
Smoke cuts through the spice, spice lingers a bit. Long.

Nose: Lime, dust, smoke, western medicine, peat, malt smell, sour lemon.

Drink: An impactful drinking process, the burning sensation spreads to the throat, citrus, smoke, peat, honey.

Overall: The Amrut vertical tasting is relatively good, but the tasting process is very exciting, even adding water can not stop Amrut's endless flame.

Only to enjoy with water, but then solid. 80 points.
    • Nose
      77 77
At first restrained, but then clear smoke. The alcohol presses and pulls in the nose. Then comes (delightful) cowshed and reminds me of a dairy, as well as a discreet cheesy aspect is here. Bacon. Burnt hair.

Water: softer. Hay. No more burnt hair - luckily. Smoked. More cowshed. With fantasy grilled tomatoes.
    • Taste
      75 75
Sweet. Smoky bacon. Destructive and numbing alcohol.

Water: Much better. Honey, BBQ sauce. Torfig-earthy Nachschmecken.
    • Finish
      88 88
Long to very long. Smoke. Ash.

It is a great Cask Strenght relatively cheap. Complex flavors, typical peat flavors with some sweetness.
