Nose: Subdued very pleasant slightly sweetish smoke turning into the aromas of spices.
Taste: Deep smoky flavor slightly peppery. Very well made. Noticeable also sherry notes and a slight mustiness. Sweet notes will appear on subsequent attempts.
Rating: 92 100 Finish quite long with the taste of a light well seasoned sheer. Well, without a doubt, very good whisky. Deep taste. It tasted good to me!

Very nice dark reddish color - many great bottlings are like that - a very smoky Bowmore with just little peat - I really like it - fantastic

The famous 'Dampflock' - a bit dirty, not highly complex, but intense and full, very tasty.
    • Nose
Very dark in its aroma. Motor oil, dark chocolate, smoke, sweet syrupy PX sherry.
    • Taste
Oily, velvety, full. Rich power, sweet, cotton candy, again engine oil, smoke, dark chocolate, salty.
    • Finish
Dry, lots of dark chocolate and cocoa. Salty, ash. Plums.

If you like heavily peated and smokey Islay whiskies that have been matured in sherry butts then this is for you.  This is surprisingly peaty for a Bowmore, with lots of smoke and other typical Islay characteristics, yet the sweetness of the sherry butt is very present.  Same thing on the palate.  With some water the sherry becomes more pronounced but the combination (and balance!) of peat, smoke and sherry is just marvelous.  One more note about the peat.  It tastes a bit `earthy`, like you`ve got a drop of mud on your teeth.  This is my favourite Bowmore so far!  However, once in a while I can smell and taste hints of burned plastic which is not very nice.  But that disappears when the whisky can breath for a while.
