If you like heavily peated and smokey Islay whiskies that have been matured in sherry butts then this is for you. This is surprisingly peaty for a Bowmore, with lots of smoke and other typical Islay characteristics, yet the sweetness of the sherry butt is very present. Same thing on the palate. With some water the sherry becomes more pronounced but the combination (and balance!) of peat, smoke and sherry is just marvelous. One more note about the peat. It tastes a bit `earthy`, like you`ve got a drop of mud on your teeth. This is my favourite Bowmore so far! However, once in a while I can smell and taste hints of burned plastic which is not very nice. But that disappears when the whisky can breath for a while.
