After the NAS Heart of Speyside and the Curiositas I had actually expected an increase ... was probably nothing

Not so the Burner. Partly one-dimensional and one is happy when there are no miss notes.
    • Nose
a torrid bourbon-like vanilla, very straightforward and soft, toffee, honey, white oak, floral with a few marshmallows no corners - no edges - no character
    • Taste
something stronger in the onset, alcohol stands out a bit, in return insanely soft fudge, coffee with unfortunately a little too much bitterness from the bar wood, unbalanced, here comes the influence of the ex-Bourbon barrel clearly visible, grated coconut, a hint of spice and ripe citrus fruits, rather dry with too much acid, uninspired
    • Finish
Oranges and caramel, slightly dry and warming, only the slightly caramel white oak wood lingers a bit longer

  6. Oldpultnie scored this whisky 78 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
A little more nose in comparison with the heart of Speyside NAS version. A fruity sweetness with malt and vanilla.
    • Taste
Not a very big body. Wood, spices and a very light sour freshness. Drying out a little but there is no bitterness.
    • Finish
Short finish and more tannins comming out.

  7. KayMeertens scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

A decent introductory single malt, nothing more and nothing less.
    • Nose
Vanilla custard, orange, peach, malt and caramel.
    • Taste
Vanilla, malt, caramel and some plain alcohol.
    • Finish
      Caramel, orange and vanilla.

  9. Matt80 scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Quite closed to begin with. Woody, peppery, underlying fruitiness, floral, something akin to a wet dog, a little horse manure, tea.

      With water - fruitier, sweeter.
    • Taste
Smoke dominates initially, burnt toffee, quite herbal, woody, a little spice.

With water - much gentler on the palate.
    • Finish
      Medium, smoke, a little oak.

With water - pepper, softer smoke

  10. Torfding scored this whisky 79 points Expert Senior

A good entry-level whisky from the BenRiach standards, can also be enjoyed alongside it.
    • Nose
      sweet with fruits, vanilla, malty
    • Taste
dark chocolate with a hint of cinnamon, spicy, vanilla, a little pear
    • Finish
      medium and round
