    I am desperate at this malt, since I experience with him, as in no other fluctuations depending on the form of the day: sometimes I find him terrific, then again something bothers me. In any case, always a horny "Mitbring Whisky" as a gift, since it is not as widespread as the 12-year-old brothers of Balvenie, Bowmore, Highland Park, Glendronach, etc. and definitely has its own character.

    The Bunnahabhain 12 years - for me is the epitome of the typical maritime malts: powerful, salty, very slightly smoky and undoubtedly good!
    [Color] full gold;
    • Nose
      82 82
      red fruits, sherry, nuts, malty sweetness, salt, oak, trace smoke;
    • Taste

      powerful start, spicy, peppery, creamy, sherry, caramel, nuts, honey, malt, maritime (salt); complex!
    • Finish
      81 81
      medium to long, sweet, creamy finish; in the finish, dry nutty;

    • Nose
      Grainy, cereal sweetness amplifies by dried fruits (sultanas, figs), thinking about crumbly-moist fruitcake now with currants, raisins, add just a small touch of sweet smoke to it. There's this incidental manure note as well, a farmyard note, which mingles well with floral ones, so as to bring up rose, carnation-like scents into composition.
    • Taste
      Soft on the tongue, quite gentle, round, silky mouthfeel, it glides down nicely, sweet - but not sickly sweet. I got some candied fruits in there, hints of crystallised pineapple, -lemon, quince marmalade and candied peels. Becoming slightly dryer then, woodier, yet fine and noble all the same.
    • Finish
      Finishes on white chocolate, cinnamon powder and dried orange peel, with marine salt submerged under the layers of brown (mocha) richness. It's slow, having a nice progression though and medium length.

    Fresh, sweetish, nutty, herbal, salty. Aperitif.
    • Nose
      Remarkably fresh, sweet, sea-air aroma.
    • Taste
      Gentle, clean, nutty-malty sweetness.
    • Finish
      Very full flavour development. Refreshing.

    Really enjoyed that one... A dram I would highly recommend to someone who starts discovering whiskies . Like I did with the Clynelish 14 OB... Natural colour and a bit more than 46 Abv. what else?

    Good value for money. None of the sulphur I read in notes about the 2010 bottling (19136). 84/85.
    • Nose
      Caramel, lime, honey, raspberry, almond, hazelnut, malt, orange, vanilla and peat smoke. Initially quite some spirit for its ABV.
    • Taste
      Caramel, hazelnut, orange, malt, lime, apple, mocha and oaky spice.
    • Finish
      Toffee, hazelnut, orange, smoke, lime, malt sugar, almond and vanilla.
