Dramfest 2014, single dram note.
Grassy and herbal at first. Polished oak. Flowery notes. Orange peel. Some soap.
Very waxy. Lemon. Vanilla with crisp red fruit and orange. Hazelnuts. Cedar wood. Ginger.
Quite long. Bitter-sweet oakiness. Spices of black pepper but also chili peppers. Menthol at the end.
A decent Strathisla. May be a little too oaky for me. Sample from Dennis.
Tasting Notes from Mark Watt (WM Cadenhead):
Nose: Warm stewed apples; cinnamon, cherries, smoked almonds and parma ham.
Palate: Lots of red apples, rhubard and sherry. A touch of spice and soft woodiness.
Finish: Warming sherry notes; soft spice; distant smokiness with pear skins.
