Yesterday ... when good whiskey wasn't so far away ...
Complex, but uncomplicated, multifruitful, without being superficial - great!
    • Nose
      89 89
Honeydew melon, sage candy, snake cucumber, old suede, apricot jam, mango chutney, teak oil. A delicious old bottle flavor mix.
    • Taste
      89 89
Fruit basket, fruit salad with a splash of alcohol, summer punch, a little sparkling homemade lemonade, honeycomb, simply delicious, but needs to be chewed so that the spicy honey aromas can be perceived.
    • Finish
      86 86
The good stuff quickly runs out of breath, but it remains fine and fruity.

A pleasant light floral nose but a heavier more syrupy palate than the nose hinted at.
The fruit is stewed mainly white and green types and there is a very faint peat note but what you notice the most is the balance which is really good.
Not a complex blend but pretty flavoursome all the same, I wonder how it compares to my older 1950's bottle WB 86601

  5. LiquidThoughts scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

Good, but not outstanding, old blend, old-school, dry, easy to drink.
    • Nose
Hay, slightly sweet grass, toffee, dried apple chips, a touch of charcoal, almonds, dried honeydew melon
    • Taste
Toffee, quite sweet, distinctly malt, slightly bitter to the taste, also hops, leather, brown sugar, sweet grasses, candied walnuts, thyme, lemon zest
    • Finish
Apple chips, almonds, grasses, Earl Gray, medium length

  6. MaltMartin scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

A very and nice and complex old blend with lots of fruity flavours. Whisky most probably from the 1950's.
    • Nose
Lot of fruity sweetness of melon, papaya and apricot. Gentle vanilla and clover honey. Citric notes as well. Some dusty mineral notes of wet stones and chalk at the background. A little soap later on.
    • Taste
Now more on yellow apples and pineapple. Hints of orange-rid and lemon sherbet. Also hay and lavender. Sugared almonds. Whiff of smoke at the end. It's all quite complex with a lot of flavor developments.
    • Finish
Medium long with a peppery edge. Gingery and a little liquorice.

    http://kaypingers-whiskyblog.de/frontend/fullarticle.php?id=259 Color: gold
Nose: Fresh fruit flavors of grapefruit, grapefruit, lemon, pineapple, avocados and much backed smoke. With leather, old clothes and newspaper.
Taste: Harmonic starting - pepper spice, herbs and citrus fruits. Waxy honey, vanilla and dry woody notes that run with a bit of smoke subordinate to the finish. Good old times!
Finish: Medium long - dry and spicy, slightly woody and with undertones in the undertone. Salty smoke, underlays the green-yellow fruit notes on the tongue.
    89 points (nose: 88 / taste: 90 / finish: 88)
