    • Nose
Quite similar to the 21-year-old miniature, Huge sherry, very sweet.
    • Taste
Sweet, very smooth, then becoming bitter.
    • Finish
Huge roasted walnuts, apricots, shorter than the 21-year-old, chocolate and sherry.

A quick vertical of the Glenfarclas tasting pack. For one of the quintessential sherried brands, the sherry notes in these Glenfarclas are surprisingly well integrated. There are even distinct notes of apple as well as malt flavours that have not been smothered in the sherry fruits. It is only in comparison to the 21 and 25, does it become clear that the 15 has some metallic notes. The 21 has some additional smoothness whereas the 25 has a deeper richness. But the family profile is remarkably consistent. On the palate the youth of the 15 is more apparent, it is more bitter and the fruits are somewhat sharper. The 21 has a gentle smokiness in the background and is clearly rounder, whilst the 25 is more full bodied and mouth coating. The finish is the typical sherry and some wood bitterness.

  5. Kaleva scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

Very good whisky, nicely composed and obviously sherried but the nose a bit spoiled by sulphury notes. Proper ABV and good balance make it easy drinking and enjoyable. Giving a bit “heavy” impression, it feels like a perfect winter daily dram with very fair (as usually Glenfarclas) price tag.
    • Nose
Sweet and buttery, winey and oaky notes, sulphur (match strokes), vanilla, raisins and dried apricots, herbs. Water opens up honey and fruity notes
    • Taste
Sweet, slightly spicy (white pepper and ginger), orange pie, nougat, malt, walnuts, minty notes, some lemon zest, hint of oak
    • Finish
Medium-long, sweet, nutty (walnut), malty and a bit oaky

    • Taste

dry, slightly bitter oak, nutty, malt
