Beautiful nose and understated palate, but spoiled by a rancid finish. Getting more complex as you progress through the bottle, which was corked incidentally. It is complicated and challenging, and speaks to the likely presence of older casks in the mix, as mentioned by others. Honestly it's a malt I "appreciated" more than I enjoyed.
    • Nose
Sweet, honey, musty malt. Marzipan. A suggestion of sherry sulfur. Sherry, chocolate, orange, citrus, honey, apples, floral, caramel, and vanilla cola.
    • Taste
Full and thick. Quite malty. Honey, apple pie filling, spices, and mild sherry. There is some heat. Fruits coming into play, with apples and pears, and some vanilla cream. Floral, turning flat and bitter.
    • Finish
Malt. Sharp and explosive, but smoothing out. Stale grains and grasses, turning to bitter oak. Hot and peppery with cinnamon and spices. Then sweet fruit in the background and savory overtones. Ending with sulfury sherry tannins, which become stronger as the dram continues.

Lacks a bit of oemph, abv a litle bit at the low side at the taste level. Finish long, but very spicy.

Longmorn 15 year old is exceedingly good, which makes its retirement all the more saddening. The nose is delicate but defined, the palate much more complex and powerful. Full-bodied, spicy and well worth seeking out.

    • Nose
Honey, herbs and flowers. Lively and grassy to start, this offers a bouquet of garden-fresh aromas – heather honey, cut grass, nettles and flax – alongside some appealing fruit notes - ripe red apples and apple turnovers, peaches, gooseberries and grapes. There’s quite a look going on here behind the fresh and fruitiness – polish, marzipan, resinous sappy oak and some mild salinity. Water brings out some citrus notes and also reveals some cask influence in the form of ginger spicing.
    • Taste
A solid arrive offers a textural mouthfeel which has a certain oiliness. Dried spiced apples, orange and lemon peels meet very generous cinnamon and pepper spicing. Underlying maltiness shines through and is supported by grainy cereals, freshly toasted bread and brass polish. Woodiness is quite high, but again, quite sappy rather than old and tired. The addition of water softens the fruits and spices, but loses some of pleasant oomph they provide. Personally, I’d just go in at 45% on this one.
    • Finish
Quite long and quite spicy with ginger and pepper in the back of the palate. Slight bitter and tannic in places.

Body: Smooth, rounded, medium to big.
    • Nose
Big, slightly oily, barley malt,flowery-fruity notes.
    • Taste
Very emphatic, fresh ,  clean ,cereal-grain maltiness. Suggestion of plum skins.
    • Finish
Tangerines, nuts. Then peppery. Appetizing. Vey long.

    • Nose
"Dust of wood" (I understand myself), fresh fruit, apple peel. The kind of profile that I love!
    • Taste
Light and delicately sweet, it is fluid and a little tangy ...
    • Finish
      ... until the final.

Thoroughly enjoyed this one after the cork crumbled before eyes upon opening, highly recommend others to be very careful opening this one ...

C: Following on from the excellent Craigellachie 23yo WB, this is also very good. A sadly missed standard expression.
