A simple knit but solid blend, better than many a big name and a nice memory of a youth, even though we had said it quite differently then. ;-)
    • Nose
Custard with apple bits, a hint of sweat, apple core. Anise. Warms a beautiful herbal mixture in the foreground.
    • Taste
Diluted honey with some black pepper, stronger and denser than expected. To the rear also a little oak.
    • Finish
The finish is really very short, sounds sweet with some barrel acid and a few tannins ..

    My notes from 20-11-2013
    • Nose
Soft, fresh fruit and a hint of sea air
    • Taste
Sweet musli, wood and slightly spicy
    • Finish
      Medium, sweet and light pepper

Not good, not bad: there is nothing disturbing in this blend and at the end there is a tiny bit of pepper.

I spiced this up by adding 1/4 Ardbeg Uigeadail and that really makes an excellent dram for not much money at 44% Vol.  The sherry, peat and alcohol in uigeadail stay on par (although 1/3 would be better, so 2/3 Vat69) and complement the spicy character of the Vat 69 finish.

This blend is not recommendable to drink as it is, because there is not much interesting. But on the other side there is also nothing that messes up the evening (like some single malts do actually) and it is incredibly cheap. So if you're looking for alcohol, go for this one (as it is better than johnny walkers) and if you want to have fun, improve it with 1/4 Ardbeg/Lagavulin/Talisker/Caol Ila to make your own blend!

you get what you pay for, but still not as bad as you'd expect... the best expression for this is good bang for the buck

    All things considered, this
remains a little dram. A bottle will not even set you back 18 EUR. Thanks, Pat!
    • Nose
      The nose is sweet on
vanilla, malt and apples, but also shows a slightly form of OBE. That should
not come as a surprise. This bottle has been open for quite a while. The apples
are a bit sour, in fact. After some time, I also get a whiff of sea salt, but
that remains tucked away in the back.
    • Taste
It is soft and a bit creamy
on the palate, but rather flat. A lot of apples again, but also a hint of
citrus fruit, without really any kind standing out. Caramel and a little bit of
pepper. The salt lining is a lot more outspoken and gives it some (unexpected)
      depth. Hint of oak.
    • Finish
      The finish is medium long,
with more oak than on the palate.

The one which I have tasted is not a bottling for UK but for Bulgaria. As far as I know the bottling for export has far less malt content inside (something like 20%).

This is the only bottle of Scotch whisky that I have bought and could not drink.
