not too much peat but also not a lot of other flavors, still for the amazing cheap price i give it more points

  4. Boletus did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

A relatively decent blend for a small budget, which stands out in its price range with an independent profile.
    • Nose
Lots of grain with a sweetish-fermented undertone, corn silage, slightly smoky, cream, caramel, heather
    • Taste
Cream, toffee, alcoholic spiciness flares, caramel, oak
    • Finish
Just about medium long, a bit of peat smoke, slightly bitter oak, leaving a somewhat ashy mouthfeel

Some how lost its malt taste...

  7. KrolikMorski scored this whisky 70 points Expert Junior

Better than ordinary scotch blend. Average with minus.

  8. Globomanni scored this whisky 82 points Expert Junior

    slightly spritty, slightly peaty, oily

  9. latus scored this whisky 72 points Member Senior

better than your usual blend, little less sense of grain

  10. CellarToberi scored this whisky 84 points Member Senior

Long straight narrow primary and slow secondary legs. High malt content, primarily Ardmore. Water pushes up the crisp fresh fruit notes on the nose, extends the development to fresh fruit after the sweet arrival, and pushes up smoke tones on account of tannins in the finish; surprisingly, it enhances the dram. Underestimated: very high quality/price ratio.
    • Nose
Grain: sweet corn and malty. Floral. Light smoke: Highland peat, bonfire, ash. Earthy notes: sharp. Fruity notes: compact, with ripe apples and citrus. Spiciness: cinnamon, sweet, vanilla. Oak notes: light creaminess.
    • Taste
Sweet arrival. Short development: citrus fruit, spiciness and smoke, to finish with bitter tones on the back palate. Salty and light nutty notes. Smooth. Thin.
    • Finish
Short: light smoke, pepper, oak, tannins. Light herbal and, lighter, metallic notes.

  11. chrisgio scored this whisky 77 points Newbie

    • Nose
      78 78
First of all light smoke, after some grain and vanilla. Its light on the nose, not overwhelming smoke.
    • Taste
      78 78
The note under the Teachers, speaks from herself, its creamy and pleasant, some light peat and some notes of vanilla and honey.
    • Finish
      75 75
Medium finish with some faint oak and a bit of pepper.

As an overall rating I think this whisky its a good pick, for its price its a bargain, it has a standard spot in my self.

    Excellent value peated blend.
    • Nose
Smoke, grain and peated Highland malt. Not much else there unless you've got a great imagination. At least it's not too grainy, which is great for such a budget.
    • Taste
Peated malt wrestles with young grain to convince you this is a quality blend. It's a fair contest and the result is quite positive. I have nothing bad to say about this palette, especially at this price.
    • Finish
Expectedly short, peaty, dry and bitter, probably from charred barrels. Once again, a fair finish for its class.

Final thoughts: if you're looking to get into peat on a budget then there's not much choice out there. This whisky is indeed a fair choice, but don't expect any miracles from it. It showcases only the classic Highland peated malt, so for those looking to get acquainted with Islands or Islay, look elsewhere and be prepared to shell out a bit more resources for a significantly more interesting experience.

    Bottle code 17/0117 03/10/2017 (bottled 03.10.2017)
Tasted 3 December 2016 from a bottle which had been less than half full for >1 year. Tasted against CR 12 (83p), JW BL 12 (84p) and Upper Ten (86p).
Nose: Diesel, machine room, campfire smoke, maritime (salty, oily) sweetness, on the verge of being a slightly sickening smell. A few drops of water really doesn't change anything.
Taste: Quite smoky, ashes or soot in the arrival, some dryness on the mid palate, then a noticeable burn which feels to be more alcohol than wood tannins (no pepper). Simpler and less complex than the two 12 YOs. With a few drops of water the ash and soot tone down, but otherwise it remains much the same.
    Score: 81

    Tasted winter 2015/16
Nose: Smoke, ash and diesel, some sweetness, then some peat and machine oil. A bit disjointed, but not a bad nose.
Palate: Some alcohol burn, a bit harsh, with some sherry like sweetness hidden behind.
Finish: A bit short and inelegant.
The nose is by far the best part of this experience and shows some class. Unfortunately this whisky doesn't follow up in the mouth. But hey, after all it's just a medium to low priced blend.

    Tasted winter 2015/16(?)
Nose: Peat, sherry, honey, vanilla and some citrus. Also, further into the smell, some not so attractive synthetic notes.
Taste (needs a few drops of water!): Peaty and peppery. Traces of mint and chocolate. Quite nice.
Finish: Medium long with pepper, chocolate and cereal but also some bitterness at the end..
All in all a very nice (for the price) everyday, peated dram! Good value at DKK 139 / EUR 18.50 (less than half the price of Johnny Walker Black Label). Total score 3 of 5.

    • Nose
apricots, yogurt, light dry smoke, lemon pepper,
    • Taste
initially indistinct, soap, sweet, light smoke,
    • Finish
      faint smoke, sweetness disappears

  15. Kilo1 scored this whisky 61 points Expert Junior

This, of course, is not the same whiskey that was earlier, the grain base is felt more than malt, the rocks are fresher, but the smoke has faded into the background, if not into the third. But overall the whiskey is pleasant.

  16. Syleo scored this whisky 75 points Expert Senior

Tasting in a cross-comparison with the lead malt Ardmore Trasitional: The pale gold Teacher's Highland Cream remains, as you would expect, much more reserved in the peat and smoke aromas, which are nevertheless clearly recognizable after pouring. The sweetness is much stronger here, toffee-like, albeit accompanied by a noticeable sharpness, overall the association with ginger jam comes to mind. In addition there is a nice light fruitiness with grapes, prunes and - hm - is it mango? Almost no smoke is revealed in the taste, here the creamy-caramel tones dominate according to the name, at most something slightly nutty and dark chocolate is also added here. In the finish, which also has a certain sharpness, the peat genes are clearly revealed again, a short licking on a piece of partially burned, wet wood is an obvious association. All in all, Teacher's really can't deny his “father” - but for security's sake maybe a blind tasting at some point? In any case, the Teacher's remains one of my preferred inexpensive blends, ideal for every day and every occasion.

    An "everyday blend" ...
    • Nose
slight alcohol note, fruity (pear), malty,
    • Taste
      soft onset, very light smoke, sweet, malty, some fruit, slightly sprightly, "metallic" youth;
    • Finish
      medium length finish, slight nuttiness in the finish;

  18. holborndrinker scored this whisky 75 points Connoisseur

it tastes a little watery, but it does taste of something and is quite inoffensive. Good value for money when you consider all the effort that goes into it - at least you're not being ripped off and almost certain to be supped, rather than gather dust.

Best blend, some fresh tones combined with a hint of smoke.
    • Nose
Fruity, citrus, with a hint of smoke. Later also some banana
    • Taste
Slightly licorice, some smoke, sweet, caramel or toffee.
    • Finish
Slightly tingling now, liquorice, some licorice, caramel. Quite short.

Fine and fruity peat (citrus, melon ...) perfectly melted together. There is also malt, which only remains after some time, the rest fainting. In the mouth, very supple, a little watery of course but we find this sweet melon and sweet spices that make it a very summer dram. Final quite short and relatively neutral. I accompanied this Teacher's by a fishing jockey for dessert and I must confess that I have KIFFE! Enthusiasm 4/5

A time-honored brand dating back to 1830. The trademark Teacher's Highland Cream was born 54 years later. Ardmore Single Malt determines the event in this blend and you can taste it clearly. It is complemented by such a sonorous malt as Glendronach. Win with a few drops of water.
    • Nose
Immediately peaty in the nose. Smoke, nutmeg, pepper, salt and a piece of hard toffee away. With water a distinct salt nose, some milk chocolate, some artichoke leaves, a little malt.
    • Taste
Spicy & clear on the go; a little salt, damp peat, becoming sweeter in the course of time. Water sharpens the salty profile. Despite all this, a little sweetie paired with white pepper. A little bit astringent. Acts somehow "open"
    • Finish
Some pepper & salt, smoke, hints of wine. With water a wafer-thin Schikoton, a slight tingling. Mild sweetness evokes memories of sweet wine with sweets.

  25. Andytka3 scored this whisky 74 points Connoisseur

Nose:- Cereal husk and hop, nose deeper to catch the faint banana creaminess and airy smoke. Muted and soft. Palate:- Contrast to the soft aroma, bold mouthfeel and vibrant. Beefy
structure and very spicy honey cling on a refine herby smokes. Prickly
due to high strength and challenging to the palate. Sherry notes
    lingers.

Finish:- Intense chili spiciness over long length. A
high content on malt as it said on their profile, I would guess high on
rye as well. Dry and clean, slightly spirity. A bit off balance but a
    blend with style.

Its cheap and cheerful but too much toffee/caramel.
    • Nose
caramel and vanilla with a little peach and apple.
    • Taste
Quite fruity on red apple, peaches and syrup. There is some biscuit which makes it drying on the palate.

There is a lot of toffee and caramel, too much for me to be honest
    • Finish
Not too long on toffee, toffee. toffee.

I like it, helps if you taste it better and let it stand. In the beginning it was quite superficial
    • Nose
Sweet, honey, caramel. Fruity: apple, vanilla, flowers, toffee. Slightly surfed.
    • Taste
First watery, then malt and peat, sweet. Honey, vanilla, little cherry.
    • Finish
Finish is quite simple, little development. Milled length. Peat taste remains the only one

  34. Goethe scored this whisky 75 points Connoisseur

A simple blend. The spirit finds its way after a short citrus-pepper arrival.

    Concerning price/performance ratio: 7/10
    • Nose
Citrus, hay, spirit and a touch of smoke.
    • Taste
Sweet, citrus, pepper and spirit again.
    • Finish
Short and a bit sweet. Some smoke in the back.

  35. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Nice, tasty, chocolaty-sweet blend, I'm positively surprised. Comes next to the Jameson oA, who plays in the same price range, a bit better off.

    Notes from a blind tasting!
    • Nose
Musty, mouldy smell. Some smoke. A hint of pepper. Vanilla. That´s about it. No more to come.
    • Taste
Sweet start, kinda watery. Really boring. Again some pepper and little smoke. Juvenilely bitterness.
    • Finish
Still this typical bitterness of young whiskys. Vanishes pretty quickly.

  37. markjedi1 scored this whisky 77 points Connoisseur

    A fairly simple blend, but
probably a good mixer because of the trace of smoke – the only part of this
whisky that gives it some character.
    • Nose
The nose is rife with malt
and citrus fruit. Some sugared citrus peel, hints of apricots, a touch of
heather and a trace of smoke, albeit discrete. I also get a hint of nuts. All
in all, this is quite a pleasant if indeed somewhat simple nose.
    • Taste
It is oily on the palate,
but rather sharp despite the low ABV. Fiery, peppery attack with a hint of peat
and heather. The sweetness tends to go towards pure sugar. Liquorice kicks in.
The fruit is yellow. The nuts are somewhat subdued. It is, however, quite a
      light drink.
    • Finish
      The finish can hardly be
called long, but it is not exactly short either. A nice smokiness drowns out
      the rather unpleasant sweetness.

  38. Ferdinand Brahe scored this whisky 37 points Newbie

The smell is the best that this whisky has to offer. It's second advantage is the price. The taste is dominated by alcohol. For a few euros more you can get a descend Irish blend.

    • Nose

    • Finish
      some smokey, peppery taste remains

    • Nose
      Oily, Fudge-like.
    • Taste
Big, rounded, smooth. Full of crunchy maltiness. To drink this whisky is like biting into peanut brittle. Then toffee. Then liquorice flavours.
    • Finish
Rooty, oaky, smoky, these dry flavours providing a perfect balance.

  44. HunterRomario scored this whisky 79 points Expert Senior

A pretty good blend, rounded up with overall tone and expressiveness. The recovery is still in both the old design and the 43% version. On me, the (sweet maple) sweetness in the scent is a little unpleasant, disturbing, otherwise I would appreciate even better. If you like that, you can be even more happy than me.
    • Nose
The blend is pretty distinctive, peppery scent. Caramel candy, some smoke and sweetness (perhaps maple syrup?). (79 b)
    • Taste
Pleasantly sweet, light-tasting, thinner, but more pronounced, gently peppery aftertaste. Also taste malt and hazelnuts. (78 b)
