It started well, but with the first sip the catastrophe broke through. I can`t understand, but the content of my bottle has nothing to do with what I read in other reviews. Musty and alcoholic. As if the whiskey is "turned over", but that can not be.

Smells unspectacular. Pretty light and a bit fruity. despite the 46% no disturbing smell of alcohol.
    • Taste
      5 5
What's this? Indefinable, musty taste with excessive alcohol. No connection to the smell. Unpleasant! I do not want to drink any of that anymore.
    • Finish
      5 5
Musty and unfortunately a little longer lasting. First of all, I have to drink a little more water. --- So, done: That could be neutralized only with coke.
What has happened there? Did I have something else in the bottle than the other reviewers? Can whiskey get bad? Questions about questions - but I will not try it anymore.

  3. Jeep51 scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

An honest whiskey. The nose is flawless (and without quality?) While the mouth is more typical with a little more personality. An overall note so.
    • Nose
Relatively young: both fresh fruit, apple, mandarin and pear blend as well as cereals (malt, biscuits). Vanilla also points the tip of its nose over the air. It's definitely cool but far from stunning.
    • Taste
Better. One or two notches above. Better balanced, richer and more complex. A pleasant smoke accompanied by salt, iodine and fine peat. The texture is oily. The palate evolves to notes a little more woody and spicy, including pepper and ginger. Slightly soapy.
    • Finish
Long, dry, vanishes on hints of firewood and lemon.

  4. [2stoned] aKu scored this whisky 78 points Expert Senior

Simple, round, supple whiskey that, despite its 46%, leaves a weak impression now and then. Nice summer whiskey to drink by the way. The PLV is mMn bad, 30 € would be there ok. Of the 3 bottlings (this, Auchnagie, Gerston) he comes to the 2nd place.
    • Nose
slightly malty, green slightly caramelized apples, a little pear, small splash of lime, sherry, after a while in the glass a little mango, papaya, the sour note disappears
    • Taste
slightly dry, a little malt, trace heather, fruit compote of light fruits
    • Finish
rather short, slightly malty and vanilla, very slightly dryness which turns into an equally light sweetness of light fruits (apple, pear, peach, apricot)

  5. Gronqvist scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Full-bodied, dense and mild with notes of fruit cake, Madeira or Sherry, toffee, caramel, pears, grapes, candied apple, leather, fruit cake, pastry, vanilla, walnuts, raisins, orange peel, a little hay, smoke and light shades of sweet tobacco
    • Taste
Sweetness full, oiled and fruity with a peppery sensation followed by baked goods, fudge, lemon, pastry, vanilla, smoke, apple peels, lemons, limoncello and slightly salty.
    • Finish
Dry and medium long with pepper, vanilla, chocolate and smoke.
