Another beautiful Longmorn now from the late 1960's. Tasted at the Super Tasting Sherry Wood Whisky's '60/'70 in February 2020. A little bit more raw than its 1974 sister at the same tasting.
    • Nose
Starts with lots of sweet sherry notes, butterscotch, toffee and fudge. Polished oak. Vanilla and honey. Later on some (Mortlach-like) meaty notes and Maggi. Even hints of bacon at the background. Whiff of smoke.
    • Taste
Now more on the oaky side with burnt wood intermingled with citrus notes of gooseberries and peel zest. Followed by spices of cinnamon and caraway. Espresso coffee and raisins. I got roasted chestnuts as well. Mouth feeling is quite bold and 'fattish'.
    • Finish
Long. Black pepper. Clove. Chewy liquorice at the end.

Very excellent old sherry cask with a touch of tobacco and smoke, not too sweet, it’s this kind of that created legends and thus, reminds me very much of the old Taliskers from the 50s – fantastic!
    • Nose
      93 93
Dried fruits, figs, dates, figs, toffee, wooden cabinet, furniture polish, hints of menthol, spices, little nutmeg, sherry wood, tobacco – great!
    • Taste
      94 94
Little punchy, spicy, old wood, also old books, subtle sweetness, more toffee, more sherry wood, more menthol and eucalyptus, cigar tobacco, little liquorice, hints of smoke – excellent!
    • Finish
      93 93
Medium long, warm, more spicy, little more woody, little tannic, more tobacco and little more smoky

There is some of that typical obe nose from these old berry bros bottles, the nose reminded me of the 51 glen grant, candied fruits, tropical obe notes, more leather, Demerara sugar, mushrooms, dark fruits on the palate, excellent
