I assume this bottling has not (yet) become very "popular" because of two reasons:

    1. The price tag of around 110 EUR was rather heavy for a (nearly) 12yo PC, back in 2013 when it was released.
    2. Many people expected or hoped for the sherry influence to be much bigger.

The good thing about that, it's still available after almost three years.
In fact, this bottling is offering typical PC character. The farmy notes and the peat, they're all there. The sherry influence is rather a slight addition to that profile.

If you like PC even without heavy sherry influence, this is a flawless and pure choice. And the price? More of a good offer, nowadays...

Lemon nose with a large farmhouse side and dried dung. Big size, big peat, well integrated alcohol. Extremely long finish. Very very good.

  5. Akoo scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

A Port Charlotte that will appeal to fans of peaty sherry with enough glucose, with its skewer of artificial sugar. A beautiful dram perfectly balanced but can quickly become a bit tiring.
    • Nose
slightly earthy / meaty peat, raspberry cream, iodine, fish, white flowers, chocolate malt, white wine apples. The nose is very sweet but nothing prohibitive.
    • Taste
a rather discreet meat peat with pretty notes of milk chocolate, sweet spices, confectionery fruit. Nice texture with a well integrated alcohol but it's pretty quickly sickening.
    • Finish
quite good on peat and the sweet component (sweet green banana) which becomes a little embarrassing in the end of the mouth. The rear-mouth is bland despite a durable texture.

Very farmy, especially on the nose, stable, stable ... Mouth more lemony, slightly marked by sherry, final a little too sweet.

I have to say I like it very much.

There are better ones out there for less money.
