Whisky Reviews for Nikka 1990

- Very drying strong wood influence there despite the quite young age mainly caramel, marzipan and spices. Very nice
- One was ultra active for a whisky very marked by wood and spices. Quite unique to tell the truth, a species of Spice-tree Monster
Woh! Mind-blowing. Do not approach the nose too close to glass, alcohol is very present! The 62% are there. Aromas of young wood (sawdust), wax and honey (quite light), some vanilla and caramel. A bourbon side. Water will only do him good. With water, more civilized obviously, more sweet and syrupy. Vanilla and caramel dominate from now on.
Without water: fast water! There too we feel the 62%. Very dry, stretched: sawdust, varnish, and many spices: pepper, clove, cinnamon (?). Come on, give him a chance and add some water. More soft of course, and thoroughly on the clove and probably a little ginger. Caramel and vanilla are also part of it.
Endless. Dry on cloves and a very light veil of smoke.
- Why 10 years old? I don't know. But it's the best 10YO whisky I have tasted.
Water makes it wonderful (sweet, tasty fruitiness)!
