On the nose, fruits, grapes, old plums, woody, sweet spices!
    • Nose
wood, old alcoholic plum, stones, candied and crushed grapes, viandu, ephemeral smoke in return and glue.

Tasted during a blind tasting competition in May/June 2016.
    • Nose
Oily, fatty, fruity (red fruit and citrus - oranges notably), dark chocolate, coffee, walnuts, wood (whiff of sawdust at times) and some wet paper. Keeps giving an alcohol punch; this becomes less with added water, but the water emphasizes the wood tones.
    • Taste
Full head-on with cask strength sherry, citrus (oranges again), nutty, wood. With water it becomes more round, smoother.
    • Finish
Warm and lingering with red fruit, burned sugar - becoming sweeter towards the end.

This is a very strange PX cask matured Amrut. I wouldn’t have guessed it was a Single Malt let alone an Amrut. There are enormous amounts of wood and solvent tones in this dram. It feels like an american oak PX cask with fresh oak mixed into it. I’m not sure if I like or dislike it.
All in all I found it quite rough yet intriguing.

    Tasted blind during PO2016
    • Nose
A fresh, intens and sweet whisky with aromas of grains (rye), solvents, glue, resin, chocolate, sherry, cinnamon, ginger, wet paper, apple, pear, gooseberries, grass, hay, stable air, coffee, berries, prunes, caramel, citrus, curry leafs, hint of smoke and more solvent tones.
    • Taste
A warm, spicy and sweet whisky with aromas of pepper, chili pepper, hot ginger, honey, solvents, sherry, varnish, acetone, glue, oak, anise, menthol, cedar wood, wood shavings, caramel, toffee, citrus, some dried fruits (raisins, dates, plums), dusty tones, sherry, very dominant alcohol, apricots and more oak.
    • Finish
A medium long, hot and dry finish with aromas of pepper, chili pepper, hot ginger, tannins, solvents, sherry, honey, spices, orange and a lot of oak.

Alcoholy and raisiny at the beginning. Then a little wood smoke and a
smell of waterpainting. A little fruityness of smoky douro style port,
sultanas and dried strawberry with hints of chocolate. Old radish and
    dust in the background.Taste:
Very woody of old french oak and quite dusty, then medium dry sherry
paired with raisins, milk chocolate and dominant alcohol. A harsh
texture spiced with a hint of thyme and a cayene. Finish is biting and
strong with cheap  spruce wood and chocolate.
