N- Quintessential the classic aroma of Talisker 18YO and among the two easiest to identified. Nice buttery malt notes with crushed seaweed and dried leaf, drift of mud follow by spicy salted caramel, charred grilled semi dried starfruit. Also those goodies brought by the retro worm tub condenser - meatiness and light sulphury smokes that reminded me of Springbank. Hint liquorice and mineral underlay. (93/23)

P- Root herbs spicy, sweet and sour honey sandwiched with nutty and leather. Firm stormy bites with bitter cocoa and coffee. Orange sweetness with breeze of peat, before turn to herb bitterness. Feel just wee thin on the body. (89/22)

F- Medium-long, bone dry, candy and spiciness arise at the same time with minty coat. Lasting peppery and chewy with plenty of power linger at the back palate. (89/22)

    B/B- 89/22

    Cr- 3, Fr- 2, Fl- 0, Pt- 1, Ft- 0, Sp-1, Wd-3, Wn-2, Sc-1

Elegantly peated and nicely salted, with the signature Talisker peppery. Lots of maritime notes, sea wind, oyster, clams, etc. Extremely mineral too. Smells from your old and dusty study room. Lovely. After a few sips, honey sweetness appears.

Salty and mineral, exactly what the nose trying to tell you. Lovely peat smoke lingering behind the curtain, together with the pepper.
    • Finish
      89 89
Nice long finish, with no hints of bitterness. Faint smoke, with some citrus fruit notes.

    • Nose
Wonderfully complex. Menthol freshness, toffee sweetness, gentle smoke (towards smoked ham, smoked salmon), salty-peppery spiciness, raisins and subjective feeling of old furniture and dusty books bound in leather. All this gives a brilliant nose in which I lose myself. So meditate, everything else is humbug! Wet autumn leaves. Fresh earth from the compost. Chocolate.
    • Taste
sweet, then spicy, peppery, slightly sour, smoke fills the mouth, albeit tenderly. Apple compote with salt and raisins, eaten down from a polished pew: D salt. Toffee.
    • Finish
Smoke is now dominant, with a breeze of salt and leather. Rather dry than sweet caramel.

    Very nice whisky!

First tasting of this 2013-bottle in November 2015.
    • Nose
Begins with mineral brine and lemon juice.

Soft rum-banana rubbed on light leather. Fudge emerges in the background, surrounded by more citrus. Old sponge, wet stones.

Subtle grassy peatiness espeacially after swirling the glass gently. After a minute comes some leathery oak with hints of pickled cherries. The leather (a bit smoked now) is getting slightly darker, rounder and more present. Wet jacket, salty custard, a little butter, candied apples (maybe also apple sauce). Orange peel, orange juice in play with the peat, old wooden table and a leather bag lying in the grass. Woodsmoke, later more caramel, even hints of noble milk chocolate. Faint hints of deeply interwoven plum sauce, hints of dried dates.
    • Taste
A little salt water, after some seconds a lot of citrus (lemon juice, orange peel), leathery peat, leather, cherries, little earth, motor oil, hints of scouring powder, caramel, balanced, hints of dark chocolate, some pepper, also slightly burnt peat
    • Finish
Peat, French Brandy, pine needles, burnt grass, lemon zest, bit oily, caramel, leather, again noble milk chocolate, wooden closet, pepper, getting dry, raising up in a subtle way for long time, earth, a few slightly rough wooden notes. later hints of motor oil. Salt, pebbles.
