Whisky Reviews for Kilchoman 2008 MoM
2 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 85.80 points
- Assertive and delicious. The other Kilchomans I've tried so far have been quite good, but there was no getting around the fact that it was still young whisky. Its potential was evident, but there was simply not enough going on. This one, on the other hand, was full-flavoured and wonderfully intense - the first truly excellent Kilchoman I've had the pleasure of sampling. If they had bottled this at 46%, the score would have been significantly lower.
- Orange and vanilla, what’s not to like. This whisky is very balanced and very enjoyable. Much to my liking. However, if one is up for peat, this might not be your type of cake.
Compered to other (very few) Kilchomans I’ve had, this is much less peated. A lot sweater, almost like some really dark , vanilla flavoured chocolate. Reminds me of noosing the kitchen as a kid during Christmas baking. It’s a very aromatic malt. Even some well-hidden cloves in there. After a while in the glass a very pleasant bitter-orange note presents itself. Imagine a well-made orange/clovey/peated kind of Christmas soap?
A little peat, more than in the actual nose. Green pepper, white pepper. Sweet.
Ooo, that imaginative Christmas cake. A nice, very well-balanced cake. A little peat is in the background, and far, far behind the cask presents itself.
