Starts out very fruity, almost apple and cream. That gives way to a longish finish with herbs and heft.

  2. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

Lots of wood, quite dry herbaceous with a good portion of peat. OK, but a little too dry for me.

  3. Bendrachm scored this whisky 79 points Member Senior

Somehow, this one didn't work for me. Too spicy.

  4. Luigisim scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Great as appetizer but it is a bit too light
    • Nose
      Fresh and young
    • Taste
      Smooth, maybe too simple
    • Finish
      Medium, fresh wood

    almond, malt and alcohol
then, we feel the glue, and the cream, a little pear (as for the hakuchu) and a certain freshness
a good entry-level whisky with a notion of fresh almond that remains !!
    • Nose
vanilla, floral freshness, slightly sweet spices, sweet caramel, cooked apples.

It's five to seven years old (depending on which batch you get), but it's packed with flavour from those virgin casks.
    • Nose
Plenty of vanilla and fruit like green apple. Also hay, grass, cornflakes and some obvious oak from the virgin cask. Nice and fresh.
    • Taste
Very creamy and oily, more so than the other new Benromach expressions. I like. Malty with some mint notes. Also a bit of sweetness and nuts.
    • Finish
Medium finish, a bit dry with some honey and toffee.

Blind tasting of a small sample. Organic is indeed a keyword which came to mind, which I normally only associate with Lowlanders.
    • Nose
Grass, oak, green apple, wine gums, vanilla, malt, melon, cereals and mint.
    • Taste
Sugar candy, malt, minty bourbon, spicy oak, raspberry, vanilla, galia melon, honey, hazelnuts. After a while more creamy caramel.
    • Finish
      Malt, honey, hazelnuts and vanilla.

My score is a mean of two scores:

    Batch from 2006: 79 points

    • Nose
    • Taste
the whisky starts of sweet in the mouth. But rather quickly evolves in a rather dry whisky with a dry/bitter nutty character.
    • Finish
a long finish with a slightly dry aftertaste.

I have visited Benromach distillery and they have a large selection of different types of their whisky. This is the second type i`ve tasted and again i wasn`t disapointed. Well impressed with this Organic whisky. Always up for trying something new.

Got this as a christmas present off my wife. First time i've had a organic whisky and i am well impressed with it.
    • Nose
A very strong Oak wood with vanilla and dried fruits.
    • Taste
Again that strong Oak wood dominates with fruit to follow. It almost tastes like a bourbon. It is also creamy with slight hints of salt and smoke.
    • Finish
A long dry nutty and wood finish. Superb.

Huge oak impact for such a young whisky. Fresh oak shavings, dry

vanilla, and subtle toasted coconut throughout. Some dried fruit,

sultana, and toffee up front, but this is quickly consumed by the oak.

Dry, hot, resinous finish. Not an old whisky, but already showing too

    much oak.

  17. Feusi scored this whisky 76 points Connoisseur

OK an Bio Whisky, for me it tastes like a Jack Daniels, strong alcohol with peppery notes. It`s not recommendable, but it`s interesting, a new world and as it always is, a great selection of flavours, opinions and feelings behind whisky.

    Unusual but interesting
    • Nose
      Rum, currants, vanilla, fudge
    • Taste
      Oak, vanilla, toffee, sweet
    • Finish
Medium finish with lots of oak
