  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Usually I find Hazelburn a little dull, but this is expression with a peaty character is very delightful.
    • Nose
Attractive nose with mix of smoke and sherry influences. Raisins.  Stewed fruits. Also beefy notes. Some leather.
    • Taste
Rich and round. Quite punchy actually. Lots of tanninnes. Sandalwood and pencil shavings. Cocoa-butter. At the background forrest fruits of blackberries and cranberries. Black coffee as well
    • Finish
Medium long. Bitterness. A litte nutmeg. Becomes salty at the end.

Very well balanced, with a lot of presence. But easy drinkable though. My first Hazelburn and I can only say: happy to have met you!

Beautifully balanced Hazelburn with beefy sherry influence and typical Springbank minerality. I cannot detect any sulphur.

    • Nose

Caramel, blueberry, peat, mango, cherry, peach and a little tobacco.
    • Taste
      88 88
Blackberry jam, peat, apricot, caramel, leather and anise.
    • Finish
      88 88
Caramel, chocolate, peat, plum and mango.

  5. ThS scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

Nagging. The sherry is powerful, the distillate much less, so that one and the other seem to stay side by side without ever getting married.
    • Nose
Caramel, dates, a little sulfur and alcohol. Nose lean, almost emaciated, and giving an impression of "crunchy". A sherry a little caricature on a light distillate.
    • Taste
Young and alcoholic. Rather lean, dry and drying. Immediately sulfur, then caramel and more dates.
    • Finish
Long. Caramelized sulfur on a roasted woody background.
