Whisky Reviews for Glenturret 1977 DD

Round, expressive. Still a very good Glenturret 77. Maybe the best ...
    • Nose
Expressive. Creamy and buttered. Many fruits (subtle blend of exotic fruits and yellow fruits). It is slightly jam and we detect spices (ginger), light wood, leather. At aeration, it develops on notes of apricot jam, very ripe papaya and cane sugar.
    • Taste
Relatively large and we still find this creamy. It is in total adequation with the nose. Sweet fruit, a little honey and some spices that give a little pepper (pepper and ginger).
    • Finish
Very long, sweet and notes of very ripe fruits (peaches)

This one is not nearly as exotic-fruity and fresh as the best 1977 Glenturrets. The barrel has had much more influence here (clearly vanilla and some oak). Chubby, but a bit fuller than the 1977 / 2012er Daily Dram. Less deep and complex. In the back a bit bitter bitterness.

Tasting Notes (LMDW): Aged 36, this round and rich single malt is marked by notes of malted barley, yeast, acacia honey and herbs.
