Whisky Reviews for Clynelish 1991 vW

    Enthusiasm: Nose 2/5 Mouth 3/5 Final 4/5 Whisky n ° 1364
    • Nose
Powerful, aggressive limit on the nose, there are discreet vegetal notes, waxy malt tending towards the varnish. Some green apples are trying to make their way. The imbalance is quite notorious, it's a shame!
    • Taste
On the palate, quite mellow, very spicy (too much?)
    • Finish
Final warm and full, long, finally revealing his age.

  2. Rowald Sweet Empire scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Classic Clynelish. Wax. Vanilla. Salt. Quite spicy. Some hay/apple and citric notes. Giving it some time pays off.

Sweet (honey) and parfumerous all the way. In a good way. Very tasty!

There's something slightly musty in this one (I described it as limestone) which keeps it from scoring higher. And from being more expensive probably, that's the other side of it...
    • Nose
Lime, honey, limestone, vanilla, hazelnut and touches of salt and malt. Perhaps even something like white wine. A little of that characteristic beeswax, but not a lot.
    • Taste
Honey, lime wine gum, limestone, almond and vanilla. Something that reminds of a church as well.
    • Finish
Honey, vanilla, lime, peanut, white wine and again a tad of salt.

  7. Bishlouk scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

A "daily dram" of choice! A Clynelish of this age, even reduced, at this sweet price is a good deal.
Out of there, the age does not taste in the mouth, it could be 14 years old that I would not feel the difference
    • Nose
I feel like I smell fish, it is destabilizing and unexpected. Furniture wax, too. A little citrus. A smell of glue afterwards.
    • Taste
The reduced side of this whisky feels, without being watery (phew!). Citrus acidulated and peppered.
    • Finish
Medium finish on green apple (light bitterness) and slightly peppery.
