The whisky animates one to deal with him and go on a journey of discovery
    • Nose
Hardly any smoke and the sea are the first impressions again. The fruits are no longer so dark, the malt is fresher and sparkling, more lively. Tropical fruits like pineapple and mango
    • Taste
The entrance is also sparkling, melon wrapped me smoked ham, campfire, sea, milk chocolate. All flavors are well balanced.

A rather inconspicuous bottling. It is a nice change from the 18-year-old in between, but in terms of complexity it does not quite come close to him, as the sherry barrel portion is, I believe, a bit lower.
It is very good for the bottle to breathe at half the level for one to two years. The malt also really picks up speed if you warm it up with warm hands.
What I still like here is the raspberry aroma once it's really warm. I haven't noticed that before with Bowmore, at least not with the lighter bottlings.

Nice and fruity and fresh with delicate smoke, vanilla, passion fruit, lemon, rhubarb, half-ripe apple, light grapes, a little tangerine. When it's lukewarm, add raspberry and cinnamon.
    • Taste
      84 84
Quite strong for only 43%, slightly oily.
Smoke, vanilla, raspberry, caramel, apple, ripe cherry, leather, milk chocolate.
    • Finish

Medium-long finish. What remains is a hint of smoke and a little raspberry aroma with milk chocolate.

Smell: Soft smoke, light fruits and a little salt are in the foreground, behind that red berries, plums and nuts come through.
Taste: In the mouth, citrus fruits stand out, e.g. orange and tangerine, with a little peach behind them. Dry smoke spreads discreetly in the mouth. Nut and some seasoning emerge.
Finish: Medium long, gentle oak spice and light smoke.
Conclusion: A light, fresh and easy-to-drink Bowmore. The color is a bit deceptive, the fruit notes in this whisky are to be assigned to light fruits.

      Colour:
      So bright amber

      Nose:
Slightly phenolic smoke. Some salt and cereals. A flowery note peels off behind the smoke. Apple, dark berries, nut and some chocolate. There is something else, that does not fit quite well. Sour cucumber water and nail polish remover. Some honey and seasoning. Still something like brackish seawater. The alcohol is there and nicely cools the nose. Some licorice.
    • Taste
      Taste:
Bah .... I did not expect the taste in my nose.
I have to go noma right now. Spicy, smoky onset. Then something artificial comes. That does not fit at all. Tastes something like corn and old cider. Pear, old lemon and also here, a pinch of salt. I have a taste of stewed gum in my mouth. Brackish water and artificial notes over and over again. Could also be braised plastic. A good dose of nutty bitterness.
    • Finish
      finish:
Medium. Very bitter. Smoky and artificial.

17y of Bowmore would be much better in Cask-Strength. Nevertheless especially for newcomers in the world of peat and Islay, it is worth a try.
    • Nose
      decent smoke, mandarine, medical note

Good nose especially for smoke starters as it is very decent but still the Islay character is there
    • Taste
For me a bit more alcohol would have helped to deliver more taste in the mouth. Juicy oranges again decent smoke and sea salt but nothing spectacular. More basic than special
    • Finish
Medium-long finish of a uncomplex Islay dram

Buy spontaneously at the airport. Unfortunately bought overpriced. But generally not bad, typical Bowmore with little smoke.

    • Nose
Smoothly aromatic. Nutty malt. Smoky. Very good, appetising medicinal Islay character.
    • Taste
Rounded, firm, malty, dry creaminess. Tightly combined flavours.
    • Finish
      Leafy, ferny, malty, sandy, smoky.
