- Bomb! "Vanilla confit", it exists? Ben it's there. A beautiful woody evoking the best bourbons. Delicate fruits and flowers. I have to hallucinate but I even have vinous notes. In the mouth, sweet, melted, silky! Milky. Soft caramel to mooooort! By cons zero spices, which limits the relief. Finale rather short and fruity. This nose is a wonderful promise that is not quite held in the mouth, but I'm on the analytical pinching, because it's pure pleasure.
- It was a pleasure to taste this! Very old isn't always exceptionally good. In this case, it's just good and very solid, but not a front runner. I would certainly not reject any offer to drink this baby though!
It's always a pleasure to smell old grains: still it's glue-ish, but it has adopted so much more flavours. What to think of leather polish, car sponges (I do like the smell of them), old books, tea chest, pencil shaving, raisin, but certainly banana and vanilla. You can tell that this is a refill cask: 47 years is quite long, but it smells certainly younger.
Very sweet, oily, on corn, banana candies, peach candies, vanilla, young leather, still the car sponge. Not too complex actually.
A nice medium finish, with the sweetness, some spice of juniper, banana, fig, leather polish and a mild dry note of pepper.
- not that strong as I hoped, i quess i am not a grain lover
MMMMhhhwa, indeed it has to breathe. At first glue fresh wood and very young whiskey. Very rough smell. After a good half hour it does add a bit, but it does not get very much. There is some fruity, a little banana and some nectarine.
Sweet, slightly flat, slightly acidic, little toffee and vanilla after a while. Just wait a bit. So after half an hour it has become a lot fuller, although there still remains a glue taste.
Furthermore, everything is more prolonged.
Oil-like and full
Medium, a lot of sweetness, bacon, vanilla and some wood. A bit of acid after a while
Blind tasting. Sample provided by Bram84
- Superb whisky!
