Nose: VERY intense. Bourbon Hogshead?! Never. Raisins, Rum, moist basement, a giant black cigar with an almost visible and physical smell. Not an easy-going Malt, but fascinating. Something compact and minerally as well, like wet sandstone. No vanilla, no fruits, but rocks of crushed, very burnt caramel. Light artificial traces of hard candy in the background. Could be an aftershave for an old veteran. A freshly opened package of coffee.
Taste: This is how i imagine a 50-year old spirit would taste, which has been aged in chestnut wood. Tastes like double the age and too long in the cask, still good, but challenging. Swings between sour and dry. Watery mouthfeel.
This is an hard old fellow with class, but dont expect him to be cooperative...
