    90 Wonderful! Great balance!
Nose: tea with mint and melissa, smoke of a dying down fire, sea pebbles, a drop of iodine.
Taste: dense, powerful, smoked, sweetish, the fortress is absolutely not felt
    Aftertaste: long and powerful.
    Bomb!

the nose is very interesting and a bit unusual, sea salt, a little sweet smoke and menthol
taste - sweetness, menthol chewing gum, some spices, then honey and herbs
the aftertaste first slightly burns with spices, then envelops with sweetish smoke and dabs with iodized salt and mint

Very tasty molt, not like the springs that I tried before, unusually and balanced

Delicious filling of a spring bench. For me rather barrel-heavy and the typical spring bench character is there, but is a bit in the background. The sharper, more aromatic palate requires a little water.
Overall, however, very tasty, I find the Madeira finish in combination with maritime and slightly smoky notes very successful.

      Great, clear amber color,
Fresh, pleasantly soft nose, maritime notes, salty, fresh peppermint tea, with very light honey-sweet smoke, there is a slightly fruity side of berries, some red apple. Nice fruity sweet Madeira nose.

Spicy, but not spicy at all. Spiciness and spice becomes more intense. In addition beautiful sweetness and maritime notes after salty sea air. Dried fruit after raisins and oranges,
a bit malty, here too smoky sweet, smoke is more present here than in the nose. Everything nicely coordinated, balanced. The sweet one already dominates, but it goes well with the smoke and salt.

Medium-long finish, sweetish, smoke, again slightly refreshing minty with some nuts.

    Note by Chris Goodrum (Gauntleys):

A very special single cask bottling for the UK market

10 years in Bourbon/ 6 years finishing in Madeira
    Cask: 07/178-3
Dist: June 1997 Btl: Oct 2013
    Tasted: Oct 2013
A rich, buscuity, Madeira cake nose with earthy, honey notes. Edgy toffee, baked fruit, salt along with hints of parma violets. With time some grainy spices, menthol and dried fruit emerge.

The palate is soft and honeyed with shortbread biscuits and Madeira cake, dried apricot, raisins, sultanas and earthy coffee/ herbal tannins. Gently peated with a very dry, herbal, honeyed, mocca/ malty middle. A huge mouthful of a malt with a very malty finish, finally moving into light tar and walnut fade.

A drop of water brings out more citrus on the nose with an almost late harvested botrytis sweetness. The Madeira richness has faded a bit and allows the American oak to show with an almost old, dusty Glen Grant like character. It now feels double its age with a dusty violet note prevalent. The palate is exceedingly luscious now with the softly spiced herbal notes noticeable. Still mouth-filling but a little less tannic. Very more-ish!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt:

Nose: Buttery biscuits and Maderia cake. Fruity, with a couple grain notes.

Palate: Lovely warm honey, dried fruit and malt. A drop of water brings out some delicate herbal notes.

    Finish: Malty and nutty.

Overall: Superb! Give it a round of applause!
