Whisky Reviews for Strathclyde 2001
4 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 82.13 points
- Very clean tasting whisky. Minimalistic with subtle tastes of wood. Despite the high strength not hot at all.
- In general Strathclyde is for me the least grain whisky of all, but this a delightful expression. May be still a little young for a grain though. Tasted in cross comparison with its slightly older sister of 2014 (batch 2). The latter is better, definitely.
We're in grain whisky territories again. That means fresh pencil shavings (a lot!) and sawdust. I also detect fruity notes of melon and pear. Vanilla and honey. Flowery notes at the end.
Clean but full mouthcoating. Lots of sweetness of coconut and banana. Lemon and hints of vanilla yogurt (!?). Mint drops.
Medium long. Milk chocolate. A little pepper. Liquorice.
