Whisky Reviews for Springbank 1995 Gs

- Big and bold Springbank. I wonder how it had faired with a higher ABV in the cask. The heavy sherry is never cloying nor winey. Even the dryness is never exhausting. Pretty good stuff. All gone of course.
Dark, earthy, damp, and sweet. Brutally sherried, yet whiffs of smoke are still present. Savory-sweet, like oyster sauce, freshly ground nutmeg, and herbal honey. Associations of tropical fruit and dewy oranges – peaches and mango complete the mix. Quite oaky, but not pungent at all. After a few minutes, there are myriads of nutty aromas – teriyaki sauce, roasted walnuts, and perhaps even a faint date or dried fig.
Powerful and bursting with flavor. Rather dry arrival, with tannic eucalyptus and dusty oak. Beef bouillon, Danish cocoa powder, and ground almonds. Association of menthol and herbal tea lead into the finish.
Medium-long. Drying, stale coffee, and faintly smoky.
- I realy love this taste...It's very 'dirty' and unique!!
- Third whisky at an open whisky tasting in the old town pub in Delitzsch.
Very astringent. This is by far the driest bottling I could taste to date. A lot of oak, of course, the Springercharakter has been lost. The sherry dominates everything! The dried fruits are still very fine and individually perceptible.
Another Springbank which probably shares the camps.
Similarities to the successors of Scoma can not be denied.
