    Juicy
and fruity with a balanced sweetness. A summer dram through and through. The
level of maturity is on point and due to its affordability a good daily sipper
for when you don’t need a brooding sherry malt or crisp smoldering heaps of
    peat ash.
    • Nose
      Bright
yellow fruits and honey sweetness. Mirabelles and ripe apples, oranges and
limes, and bright toffee with a dash of vanilla. Overall, pretty indistinct
from many other Bourbon-matured malt whiskies. But then there’s more fruits:
mango, honey dew, and beer? Some degree of maltiness and overt oak spice are
      late to the party.
    • Taste
      Sour
sweet. Obligatory caramel, mild oak, vanilla, and fresh oranges. Associations
of bright orchards and nutty undertones.
    • Finish
      Medium.
Checks all the boxes for a Speysider here as well. Toffee, tannins, and a touch
of citrus fruitiness paint the finish.

Wonderful summer dram which – let me put on my helmet
    – is a joy with a cube of ice on a sunny terrace. All this for 79 EUR is a nice
    deal.
    • Nose
The nose is creamy and hearty. Butterscotch, vanilla
and plums. But also green notes like nettles and freshly cut grass. It has an
interesting sour edge like gooseberries. Anise? Almonds? Adding water
makes it more fruity. More citrus, mostly. With a leaf of mint.
    • Taste
It is very powerful and needs water to douse it a bit.
Nevertheless, I get quite a bit of fruit already, both sweet and sour as well
as some spices like pepper, ginger and liquorice. With water it becomes
wonderfully fruity and sweet and gets the spices under control. The almonds and
plums shine brighter than the rest. The sour edge is gone.
    • Finish
The finish is medium long on more of the same.
