  1. didi1893 scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

A very idiosyncratic and polarizing drop. Surely, the Pinot Noir Wood Finish is almost too dominant in this case, but it somehow makes this Rothaus so special. Self-willed, polarizing, a borderline finish and yet somehow very interesting, although the finish is really a little too "too much". I'm torn to pieces ... Somehow this drop fascinates me a lot, so I can and must give it 88 points! Sorry
    • Nose
Clear and reddish, the 2013 special edition of Rothaus shimmers in the glass. At the upper part of the Nosingglas has an oily streak forms from the slowly tough streaks dissolve. An incredibly fruity wine note rises powerfully from the glass and distributes its beguiling fragrance. Sweet grapes and a pinch of cinnamon play together. The voluminous red wine touch overlays almost the entire whisky, slowly transforms the spicy fruit flavors and get a slightly sour note. The intense wine bouquet, oranges, caramel, cherries and some strawberry flavor seduce me to the first sip.
    • Taste
Spicy and sour wine aromas dominate the first sip. Fruity sweetness immediately mixes with an interesting spice mixture. Slowly, the high alcohol content makes itself felt, whereby I feel this as very perfect and harmonious involved. Berries and grapes, followed by spice speculoos, roasted almonds and whole milk chocolate. Also in the taste I feel the wine aroma to almost dominant, but it also gives this malt somewhere a special touch. The high-percentage wine aromas go slowly velvety into the finish ;-).
    • Finish
Of course dominate in the finish also the extreme wine aromas and leave the whisky little leeway. Grapes and berries, some spicy wood, Gew├╝rztraminer and spice speculoos are added. The spicy wine aromas are long remembered!
