  1. Bishlouk scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

Pretty disappointing for a whisky of this age and price.
    • Nose
Very grassy (morning grass), fresh pear. The rest is melted and mixed, rather indefinable.
    • Taste
Oily and oily mouth. Cut grass, malt, sweet lemon and vanilla.
    • Finish
Short finish, lemony and slightly peppery.

Refines and elegant that acquired from with fine aging, delicate notes
of kumquat, honey, milky chocolate and fine tea fits in well on the
subtle wood notes, fresh and pleasant, just as delicious.

P- Subtly frizzy spicy which is nice, juicy citrus, tea and lightly smokes. Gummy candy and maltose mouth coating. F- Medium-long, pleasant frizzy notes that lasts, comes layer of wood,
kernel and more maltose, much anticipated fruits lost its way and didn't

Aroma: Sweet and fruity on the nose with floral notes and vanilla.
Taste: Sweet on the palate again with light fruits, spicy and slightly bitter, grapefruit, oak.
Finish: A long, sweet and spicy finish, grapefruit and oak again.

    Tomatin 25 yo 1988
(49,7%, The Whisky Agency ‘Perfect Dram’ 2013, refill hogshead, 304 btl.)

Nose: sweet, candied fruits. Angelica cake. Gooseberry pie. Lime. Violets? Also a grassy / herbal side (hay, aniseed, heather). Vanilla. Then some blonde tobacco and banana leafs. Liquorice as well. Pretty complex and wide. Mouth: sweet and rounded, with lemon sweets, gooseberries again, marzipan. Quite oily. Faint hints of pink grapefruit, and again very light violet notes. Evolves towards more grassy notes, with a little nutmeg and liquorice. Ginger too. Finish: medium long, sweet and spicy. Oranges and mocha.

High quality Tomatin, with echoes of the 1970’s but more focused on green notes and sweet herbs than usual. Around € 140.

    Score: 87/100

  6. Toffie76 scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

Not bad overall, but lacks a bit of treasure and complexity.
    • Nose
Herbaceous, floral, mineral. Apple, pear, ginger. Vanilla / icing sugar.
    • Taste
a lot of vanilla. Fresh, clean and very spring. Honey. Ample. A little pepper.
    • Finish
      Erased and a little short.
