In terms of color, this whiskey makes a wine or PX finish, the nose supports my guess with its dried fruits. The taste disturbs me the recurrent aroma after furniture polish or glaze. The pleasant sharpness gives this malt but a special touch. All in all, a very pleasing malt, but with rough edges.
    • Nose
Blind tasting: Clear and pure, the malt shines amber with a reddish glow in the glass. A very subtle smoky nose mixes with dark dried berries at the beginning of the nosing, roasted aromas rise and mix with the intense fruit flavors. Slightly mineral notes follow, apricots and peaches give the nose a sweetish and fruity aroma. Slowly a grassy note dissolves and the malt suddenly appears very flowery with a very special floral aroma. A touch of citrus fruits is created, then the roasted aromas and the dried berries are brought to life again. The nose is generally very fruity and intense, but somehow looks a bit shallow over time.
    • Taste
Cool and clear, the first sip flows over the tongue, immediately bitter and extremely spicy woody flavors are present, dried berries come to the fore again while a touch of furniture polish is created. Slowly salty and wooden sharpness lays over the tongue, a pinch of black pepper slowly unfolds its full aroma. The sharpness becomes more intense and old and bitter walnut aromas alternate with dry wood elements. The second sip looks a bit more pleasing and subtly fruity, but these flavors are relatively quickly dimmed by the sharpness on the tongue. Salt and pepper dance on the tongue, it crackles and pearls dance on the tongue. Slowly, the spiciness fades away and the taste goes into the finish with spicy woody elements.
    • Finish
The fading sharpness rests on the tongue for a long time. Dry and harsh wood tones go back over the course of time in a discreet furniture polish flavor. Walnuts mix again with fruity and sweet elements at the end of the departure. Slowly the intense and long Angang sounds out and leaves a peel and harsh woody taste in the mouth.

Expect more, the claims are the same as for the 17-year-old fellow - for the proud title of Japanese whiskey is very weak and toothless, there is no depth, there is no Japanese core, minimalistic style, for which I personally very much love the Japanese, well, in general, regardless of the origin, for 21 years is very simple and flat.
    • Nose
Closed, moist, woody-lacquer notes, light creamy tones, drying mown grass.
    • Taste
Soft, honey-floral with a light spicy oak in the background, ginger, orange peel.
    • Finish
Spicy, citrus-herbaceous, orange peel, notes of eucalyptus.

Blindverrkostung! really a nice malt, I really like 88 pts.
    • Nose
clear spicy sherry aromas with a light citrus freshness in the beginning, strong and with good volume, slightly sour, blackcurrant berry
    • Taste
nice fruity spicy beginning that takes a moment to develop to be young, he is not unruly enough for me the alcohol is rather soft.
    • Finish
on the finish nice notes of chocolate, some herbs and then again fruity seasoning

  4. Dottore scored this whisky 90 points Expert Junior

I like it very much. 90 points
    • Nose
Wet autumn leaves, mint leaves, but also creamy fruity, maybe papaya? Very spicy with cardamom, vanilla and cinnamon. In addition fresh-meaty notes. In the background you can feel minimal smoke. Very complex, a lot of time is needed here to fully understand it
    • Taste
Plenty of dark chocolate, light fruit notes, while swallowing a sweet sweet oak spice, which unfolds in the nose.
    • Finish
In the finish a bit dusty-dirty notes. Tobacco and chili. Dry bitterness is covered by beautiful sweetness.

    2nd Tried: Jan 2017
N- Wait a minute...have I just walk into a flower shop? Fresh and
clean aroma of various petals, stems and leafy. Some soothing mints,
fruit of peach, pear, crisp mist, with wisp of sweet milky chocolate.
Delicate and lively, full of sunshine. You just cannot not liking this.

P- Quite solidly packed with fruits, apricot and ginger. Juicy, charm and quite jammy, breeze of unique wood fragrant.

F- Long, dust of spices and sweet vanilla and plenty of malt. Pulsing and echoing peat lingers.

    — at The Whisky Bar, Kuala Lumpur.***

First Tried: June 2015 / Weighted Rate:- 80ptNose:-
Blend of sweet and sour. Open with sweet vanilla and dry fruits of
prunes, follow by dry sour plum. Soft and gentle, touch of charred oak,
lightly acidic, peat heat feel on nose.

    Palate:- Mellow, soft
note of mild ginger and curry powder. Unique flavour, but lack of weight
    and a bit flat.

Finish:- Warming, mature, serious, make u quiet. (but not the smoothest....)

Not bad on the nose but the body and the finish are rather humble - overall it's a bit smoother than the 17yo Taketsuru but actually comparable
    • Nose
Fresh, fruity, malty, hints of vanilla and cinnamon - actually not bad
    • Taste
Punchy, woody and I think even hints of smoke - not that many different flavors
    • Finish
Rather short, flat and a tad bitter in the end

I am disappointed. But even more disappointing I find the expensive 25yr. There's just not enough meat on my bones. The taste is little pronounced. A blend with too little character. Who praises the, has never really drunk good whiskey. Compared to cheap scotch, it is OK, but nothing more. In comparison with Miyagikyo worse and too expensive. Prefer to drink Miyagikyo + Yoichi as a single malt. They are better from Nikka. On Neudeutsch: Is how to eat only pulp bone, nothing meat. Neme Miyagikyo and Yoichi, glass of cola nix drunk together, throw Taketsuru. Have a good drink, then cuddle with a woman, sure the taste is crass like - wood, woman make ikea opinion amplifier system knock on your head.
