    Magnificent !
    Enthusiasm 5/5 Whisky n ° 1189
    • Nose
Apple pastry! To fall ! Sweet, melted ... mango. Malt. It's splendid.
    • Taste
Is it really a Laphroaig? Unrecognizable. I could have leaned for a fruity Irish. Obviously we also have some peat, but not that much!
    • Finish
Final on fruit and smoke, endless.

    • Nose
      88 88
Concentrated sweetness. Intense chestnut, then marshmallows. Peat comes in a bit later; bbq ribs, sweetness still there, honey, cake, rose or orchid petals.
With water: becomes floral; cotton, orange.
    • Taste
      90 90
Alcohol kicks in, surprising after 23 years but immediately gives space to balanced peatiness. Hay, herbals, malt (which is sweet though), ash.
      With water: absolutely citrusy.
    • Finish
      89 89
      Long, sweet peat.

Nice whisky, but a lot less than the MsC Laphroaig 1990 25 years old. These have more peat, less body and less well-balanced. Smell of leather and tobacco comes to the fore and has a medium finish. If I had to choose chose is certainly the 25-year variant of Laphroaig 1990 MsC.

  7. ctu scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Great whisky, complex and powerful, though slightly bitter.
    • Nose
Peat, orange water, lemongrass, rose, honey and salted minerals.
    • Taste
Powerful. Big dose of waxy fruits, especially apple. Ash, peat, citruses, salted caramel, pepper and herbals.
    • Finish
      Long, fruity, smoky.

  8. hartist scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

A Laphroaig bill more "classic" than the MCC cask 6856.
    • Nose
Freshness, lightness and fullness. Ashen smoke, multiple marine and mineral scents (salty and iodized spray, seaweed on the rocks, lemon oyster water) softened by sweeter scents of meringue pie with lemons.
    • Taste
Rich, powerful and superbly melted mouth. Notes of smoke become tarry magnified by a touch sweet and lemony (cake with lemon zest) then tinting a more maritime character by a salty and iodized aspect.
    • Finish
Long and sweet on a liquorice and citrusy smoke.

  9. Ikkakumon scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

    Ideal for long winter evenings!
    • Nose
Very mineral, fine peat, medicinal, some lemon honey, fresh herbs.

With water: a touch of marzipan appears.
    • Taste
Oily texture, sea salt, a little citrus, barbecue bacon, peat.

With water: the fruits are felt.
    • Finish
      Long, bitter, peaty, charcoal.
