    Colour: Pale Gold
Nose: neat: Light and fresh with notes of honey, lots of fruits with pineapple, apples and mango more obvious, slightly smokey. After around 10 minutes it gets incredibly fruity, unlike anything I ever tried. I was tasting an HP21 at the same time for reference, and it's a completely different animal! with a drop of water: amazingly, it gets even better, with the honey notes coming forward while everything else underneath giving it additional layers of flavour. Slight smoky note basically disappears.
Taste: neat: translates the nose beautifully and add tobacco and leather notes, some slight wood notes, which complement this whisky perfectly. Again tremendously fruity, alcohol incredibly well integrated, in a way you can't really feel it! Fantastic! with water: pretty much unchanged... continues being amazing with lots of flavour and complexity!
Finish: medium-long, on leather, some herbal tea and again, very fruity
Comments: I bought this sample for two reasons. First, I'm a Highland Park fan. I really tend to like their whiskies. Second, it got great reviews on the web. In the end, I'm really sorry I wasn't able to buy a full bottle! This is one of the best whiskies I've tasted so far.
    MY SCORE: Highly Recommended +

The first nose rejected me, but its evolution quickly seduced me. The mouth is superb despite a very slight lack of power. Very nice malt that takes time and a little attention to engage fully. A malt to drink alone, or at the beginning of the set. I almost missed. A little more expressiveness and power would have taken him to 90.
    • Nose
Powerful. We are first of all in the presence of a fruity / milk well present (pear yogurts) accompanied by smoked barley malt and some more vegetal notes (heather). Good news, these milky flavors vanish quickly enough to give way to yellow fruits mixed with sweet citrus while waxy and vanilla notes settle in the background. It is also mineral at aeration.
    • Taste
The attack lacks a bit of pep, but the environment is very beautiful, mixing the sweetness of yellow fruits and wax, the acidity of citrus (lime lime), and a vegetal freshness that balance (heather?). The whole remains rather dry, no vanilla / sweet bomb here and that's good. We find a slight bitterness of Tonic at the end of the mouth. Alcohol is very well integrated, almost too much, a little extra power might have allowed to gain in expressiveness.
    • Finish
Medium length, on grapefruit, Tonic, nice bitter / acid combo.

Very good HP, in a rather austere style but with a lot of class.
    • Nose
a hint of smoke, cereals, cut grass (heather?), a little fruit especially after a few minutes in the glass (citrus fruits and yellow fruits, lemon and apricot especially), a little wax, a mineral side.
    • Taste
a bit austere, it's quite old, quite close to the HP 1981 TWA "funghi" but this one is less fruity. We are far from young HP, no honey here. More wax, fruit (lemon, peach, apricot), cut grass. Pretty powerful, well integrated alcohol. Slightly thick texture.
    • Finish
      good length, tart.

Stunning nose, with the trademark characteristics of the distillery stamped all over it: creamy honey, heather and soft peat smoke. Alongside these are hints of coffee beans, cadbury`s fruit & nut, vanilla custard, old leather and tinned peaches, all perfectly rounded off by beautifully-integrated aged oak. A couple of drops of water certainly didn`t hurt, releasing extra details without changing the overall profile too much. Creamy on the palate, with plenty of warming peat smoke and a wonderful peppery/lavender aspect leading to a long-lasting finish. Yet another cracking HP from Cadenhead in 2013, but very different to the previous 25yo heavily-sherried version!
