Whisky Reviews for Glenlossie 1997 MBl

4 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 86.00 points

  1. ARDBERG scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

A very nice yellow fruits nsoe that becomes stronger the more the dram breathes. Replicates well on the palate, the finish could be stronger, but is ok at 46%. Though, no comparison to (the now sold out) Glenlossie 1997 cask 6766 for Reifferscheid.

An elegant mature malt with an interesting combination of fresh nose and ripe taste.
    • Nose
First, fresh and fruity. A lot of peach. Then he becomes a bit mineral and then shows some wood. Finally, it becomes sweeter again with fine vanilla and a touch of cocoa. Elegant impression in the nose.
    • Taste
Velvety texture. Mild but spicy start. Tastes more mature than the fresh impression of the nose. Chocolate pudding. Some oak. Slightly tart on the palate, but still pleasant. Pinch of cinnamon.
    • Finish
Long. Pleasant residual sweetness. Some coffee.

  3. ChrisSym scored this whisky 86 points Expert Junior

Good barrel selection with a great whisky, which is not bottled so often. A single cask whisky for about 70 €, which is absolutely cheap. It is nice that the Glenlossie has many different notes in the nose and in the taste, even if he does not seem complicated drinking.
    • Nose
Great fruity notes immediately rise in the nose. Juicy peach, mandarins. Some red apple. Not quite ripe plums. Add a light scented touch, subtle fresh bourbon vanilla and finely integrated caramel and oak at the back. Very mild, harmonious impression.
    • Taste
Pleasant mouthfeel. The fruits are no longer so present, but rather notes of sweet pipe tobacco, pleasant oak and cocoa on warm vanilla pudding. All in all, more "set" notes. In the end, some honey and bittersweet or mocha and a hint of cinnamon.
    • Finish
The finish is medium to long. A light sweetness combined with fine oak and bitter almonds.

    N-
Rounded earthy and vanilla with parsley, oat meal and toffee. Alluring
corky and decay notes lurking at the background, damp wood.

P- Doesn't live up to the nosing, present of caramel and honey on spicy coating, medium texture and ok, just ok.

F- Smooth, medium length with sour fruits and sweet spices remains.
